With more e-bikes, scooters, and other motorized devices out and about across town, a major concern we’re seeing is making sure everyone—especially our kids—stays safe.
One of the biggest issues our officers and residents witness is kids riding electric scooters without helmets. By law, all kids under the age of 18 on an electric scooter MUST have a helmet on. It’s literally the law, please obey it. A simple helmet can make a life-saving difference in the event of an accident.
Each type of device comes with different rules for speed, age, helmets, and where you can ride. Taking the time to understand these differences can prevent accidents and protect the people who matter most.
👨👩👧👦 Parents— It starts with you. Please talk with your kids about:
• Wearing a helmet during EVERY ride
• Following traffic laws
• Riding in the same direction as traffic
• Staying visible, especially at night
🚦 Riders of all ages:
• Yield at intersections
• Use lights and reflectors after dark
• Stay alert and avoid distractions
A little awareness goes a long way in keeping our streets safe for everyone. Thank you for your attention to this matter and we hope to see a difference!
