The Tennessee RiverLine proudly recognized the recipients of its 2024 awards during the 6th annual Tennessee RiverLine Summit in Knoxville, TN in February 2025. The summit brought together nearly 200 key stakeholders and partners to celebrate the outstanding contributions made by those committed to advancing the RiverLine’s mission to connect communities across the Tennessee River Valley.
While at the summit Meigs County was presented with two awards:
1st Award: Tennessee RiverLine Event of the Year
- Blythe Ferry Paddle in Meigs County, TN
The Blythe Ferry Paddle, hosted by Travel Meigs County in collaboration with Dayton, TN, Cherokee Removal Memorial Park, and the Hiwassee River Blueway was honored as the 2024 Event of the Year! This event successfully blended recreation, history, and conservation, attracting both new and experienced paddlers to the Tennessee River. The paddle launched from the Blythe Ferry boat ramp, leading participants upstream to Hiwassee Island, offering views of the historic site and local wildlife. Following the paddle, a celebration at the Cherokee Removal Memorial Park featured presentations by hosting organizations and a speaker from the Tennessee Trail of Tears.

2nd Award: Extra Mile Award to Paige Finnell
Paige was recognized with the Tennessee RiverLine Extra Mile Award for her leadership, hard work, and dedication to her community and the Tennessee RiverLine. Her efforts along with fellow volunteers have propelled Meigs County into Stage 2 of the RiverLine projects, paving the way for future accomplishments through this partnership.
