Alabama State University has given my son Chadwick Xavier Dorsey an experience of what being in an HBCU COLLEGE feels like. He has stated his very first year of college “Mama I’m living my best life”. He was so proud to be a part of this strong Black college and studying Theatre Arts learning different diverse play types , broadly categorized into traditional genres like Comedy Drama and Musical Theater, alongside modern forms such as Performing Arts. We have experienced a few of their performances and they were all great. Xavier was apart of different organizations while attending ASU and he enjoyed them all. A few of his favorites were the ASU Praise Dance ministry where he was the Director over the Mime ministry. He said once he learned of this ministry on campus his being at Alabama State was complete. He was missing his ministry that he was over at his home church Welcome Friends Baptist church.. He felt complete once he joined the Praise ministry and started doing God’s work . He also enjoyed being apart of the Royal Court making the Queen’s feel like a Queen. Well I want to congratulate my son for not letting the pressures of college life get in the way of his Dream. He persevered in his pursuit to become a successful young man. I m so proud of my son and I Thank God for being the head of our life on this and all of our journeys.
