Hello to our GlobeMed community!
We have an important post that we hope you take a moment to read through.
Our chapter here at the University of Denver works with BSDA (Buddhism for Social Development and Action). Each year, a team of students travel to Cambodia to focus on our projects that have been developed in partnership with BSDA. These teams continue to work throughout the year with support for the projects, and all money raised for DU GlobeMed goes towards supporting these projects at BSDA.
While our team was on-site in June and July, they were able to form close friendships with every BSDA staff member. Particularly, our translator Sophors. Our community is coming together to show support and solidarity for Sophors as he goes through an extremely difficult time. Recently, his wife was hospitalized unexpectedly and diagnosed with coronary heart failure. She needs a very expensive surgery that, unfortunately, Sophors and his family simply can't afford.
All expenses for the surgery and extra medical costs are listed out on the fundraising page.
We are asking our community to come together and help Sophors through this difficult time and have set up a GoFundMe in his name. Because GlobeMed at DU cannot officially accept donations on behalf of Sophors, the fundraising platform was set up by Ally Malecha, one of this year's Co-Presidents for our chapter. The donations will be sent directly to Sophors.
Thank you for taking time to read this and we hoping for the best for Sophor's wife.
