We certainly don't need an excuse to enjoy a good plate of pasta, but we're happy to celebrate anyway! 😂

One of the pleasures of traveling is discovering a destination through its food, and Italy is a perfect example. From carbonara and cacio e pepe in Rome to pesto in Genoa and fresh seafood pasta along the Amalfi Coast, every region has its own specialties worth exploring.

Of course, you don't need a passport to celebrate National Pasta Day! Whether you're cooking an old family recipe, visiting your favorite Italian restaurant, or simply ordering takeout tonight, there's always room for a little pasta. 🍷

Happy National Gumbo Day! 🥘

We have some important news to share from Platinum Events & Travel.

For the past several months, Diane Darcy-Schmidt and Cathy Gresham- Skipper have been working behind the scenes to merge their travel agencies.

The process began back in May, with the hope of completing everything before fall. As often happens with business restructuring, the legal side turned out to be more complicated than expected. After several months without the progress we needed, we changed legal counsel last week and made substantial progress in a single meeting.

Our current goal is to have the merger fully completed by Halloween.

As part of that transition, the travel side of Platinum Events & Travel will become part of Skipper's Elite Escapes.

For existing Platinum Events & Travel clients, the changes should feel relatively small.

You will begin seeing the Skipper’s Elite Escapes name in place of Platinum Events & Travel, and our logo and branding will change slightly as we bring the two agencies together.

What will remain familiar is the service.

Diane will continue working directly with her clients, planning trips, managing reservations and assisting throughout the travel process. Cathy will continue doing the same with hers. The difference is that both advisors will now be working within the same agency and will be able to support one another, collaborate and draw from each other’s experience.

We each bring different strengths and areas of knowledge to the business, and we are looking forward to building the next chapter of Skipper’s Elite Escapes together.

You may also notice a change to our private Facebook travel community. It is now Cathy & Diane’s Travel, Cruise & Vacation Club, where both of us will be sharing travel information, ideas, experiences and plenty of conversation with our clients and fellow travelers.

We will share more as the transition becomes official, but for now, we wanted our clients and friends to hear the news directly from us.

Coffee lovers, this one’s for you! ☕ It’s National Coffee Day!

I’ll be over here celebrating by … not drinking coffee. 😂 I know, I know. I somehow manage to travel the world without starting my mornings with a cup of it.

Fun fact: coffee is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, and coffee culture can look completely different depending on where you travel — from a quick espresso standing at the bar in Italy to the elaborate coffeehouses of Vienna.

So, coffee people: what’s your order? Are you a simple black coffee person, latte, cappuccino, iced coffee … or something that takes 14 words to order? 😂

There’s no shortage of travel advice out there — but some of the “rules” people have heard for years don’t always tell the whole story.

A travel advisor doesn’t automatically mean a more expensive vacation. Many advisors do charge a planning fee, but you’re also getting our time, research, experience and help managing all the details — often while still accessing the same or better pricing you’re seeing online.

Last-minute deals can happen, but waiting can also mean fewer choices, higher airfare and limited availability. That can make a big difference when you’re traveling during popular dates, cruising, or trying to coordinate several people.

And one cruise is definitely not the same as another. The ship, cruise line, onboard experience and style of travel can vary tremendously. Finding the right fit matters just as much as choosing the itinerary.

Good travel planning isn’t about finding a vacation. It’s about finding the right vacation for you.
