Want a fireplace in your treehouse? We’ve got you 🤝🤝. I had a lot of fun painting this cozy little fireplace for the Catalpa Treehouse! Thankfully it wasn’t inspected because we did not install a chimney to go with it 😳.

Was a big day two on site for the Catalpa treehouse! Early morning load-out getting all of the wall sections, roof sections, platform, and spiral stair on the trailer in Fort Collins. By the end of the day we got the main platform up, braces in, all 4 walls set, landing platform decked, and spiral stair set! The wall sections were heavier than expected with the bump-outs left on each wall, but once we got them over next to the treehouse lifting them up was easy with the GRCS winch and pulley rigged up higher in the tree.

Day one on site installing the Catalpa Treehouse! Today Cam & I laid out & installed 2 hyperbolts from , 4 of our paddle TABs, and 4 of our “hockey stick” bolts for knee braces. With everything mostly prefabbed at the shop, we need to really nail the locations for these pieces of hardware so everything will fit just right. We make a series of “playbook” drawings based on our computer model which includes a photogrammetry scan of the tree & site, to get all of our elevations and orientations of the hardware figured out. In the case of this project there is actually a very convenient grid of brick pavers around the tree we were able to use for reference points to laser in the hardware locations. Stole my kids’ sidewalk chalk this morning to do the layout on the brick 🤫

Flower boxes! We’ve made flower boxes to hang outside the windows of a treehouse before, but this time I wanted to fill them with something nice to start with for the clients. I figured a little fake flower arrangement would be an easy low maintenance way to keep the fun look going year round. Was pretty easy, with a foam block attached at the bottom of the cedar box to stick the stems in, and filling in around the flowers with some cedar mulch from my garden. These will get mounted just below the windows on the exterior of the Catalpa treehouse.

Designs for the Catalpa Treehouse we’re working on in the shop right now. This backyard treehouse in Denver will be supported by one massive old catalpa tree. A ships ladder & spiral staircase will lead up around the tree to a deck about 12ft off the ground!
