Snow percentages statewide, are still the lowest ever for all years of record.

As a friend asked me this weekend, what does that mean??
As the second graph shows, at this point in the season, it could mean anything. IF it stays dry, our water supplies could be impacted severely next summer. If we get snow, we may be ok.

The snow pack in Colorado is the lowest it's ever been since the period of record began in the 1980s. While the percentages indicate the snow water equivalent is around half of average for this date, there has never been a year with lower snowpack state-wide on this date. The dots on the second image show the percentile of each station. Red dots are not good if you're a skier... or like water.

But what does this really mean? We've had years with nearly this low snowpack that have improved. 2002 was better on this date and ended as one of the lowest years for snowpack statewide. In any case, do your snow dances!
