Did you know there are other islands around Venice you can take water taxis to? Think about the public bus systems in a lot of cities but just on a boat!⠀

I'm not sure why the Castel St. Angelo wasn't on my list before we went to Rome.⠀
If you've seen the movie Red Notice it's the building at the beginning of the movie (the inside is different though).⠀
In addition to having a spectacular view of St Peter's Basilica and Vatican City the history is fascinating!⠀
The castle started as Hadrian's tomb and then became a fortress for the Pope's - there is even a tunnel connecting it to Vatican City.⠀
Now, it's a museum with a cafe and a view.

Trastevere is across the Tiber from Rome.

It has an old and rustic feel with the vining plants and lights.

If you're visiting you can walk to Trastevere but you should consider taking the public busses. Buy tickets at the tabacchi stations (green roofed kiosks) before you board!
