Flood Threatened Residences - Please avoid all unnecessary boat traffic near the populated areas of Ouachita River

As most are aware we are experiencing significant flooding from the recent storms and many of our residents living near the Ouachita River throughout the county and near the Moro Bay area are struggling to keep the water out of their homes. This is being compounded by the wakes created by boat traffic on the river. While curiosity is understandable, not only are the current river conditions dangerous for the boaters, every extra inch of water created by boat wakes can mean the difference between someone's property being ruined or not. Please try to imagine yourself in the circumstances of these residents, and avoid any unnecessary boat traffic in these areas.

Moro bay still rising

The Ouachita River has crested at Camden at 42.3' last evening. It is starting to retreat slowly and will be below moderate flood stage by Sunday.

The flood wave will reach Thatcher near Moro Bay Sunday. So expect the river to rise another 8ft or so.
