2 TRUTHS & 1 LIE — MOROCCO EDITION

Time to test your travel knowledge again! This time we’re heading to Morocco, a destination filled with incredible history, colorful markets, beautiful architecture, amazing food, desert landscapes, and a culture that makes it unlike anywhere else in the world.

On the poster are three statements about this fascinating destination. Two of them are completely true, but I slipped in one lie.

It's funny how our vacation priorities change as we get older!

When I was younger, the vacation was all about staying out late, seeing how much I could fit into one day, and making sure I didn't miss anything.

Now? My priorities have definitely shifted.

✔️ A room with a great view
✔️ A comfortable bed
✔️ Good food
✔️ Time to relax
✔️ And maybe a quiet spot while watching the sunrise.

Don't get me wrong—I still enjoy exploring new places, but I've learned that sometimes the best vacation memories come from slowing down and simply enjoying where you are.

IF MOROCCO WERE A PERSON…

Morocco would be that friend who is colorful, mysterious, welcoming, and always seems to have another story you haven’t heard yet.

She’d invite you in, pour you a glass of mint tea, and before you knew it, several hours would have passed. She loves good conversation, incredible food, beautiful craftsmanship, and traditions that have been passed down for generations.

She’s definitely not boring. One day she’d have you wandering through the colorful markets and narrow streets of Marrakech, and the next she’d convince you to ride a camel into the Sahara and spend the evening watching the sunset over the desert.

Her home would be filled with colorful tiles, beautiful rugs, lanterns, spices, and little treasures collected over the years. Everything would have a story behind it.

Morocco is that friend who keeps surprising you. Just when you think you understand her, she shows you something completely different.

Colorful. Welcoming. Adventurous. Historic. Mysterious.

She doesn’t just want you to visit. She wants you to experience her culture, taste the food, meet the people, and hear the stories.

Well… the “In Jail Series” has officially come to an end!

What started with a travel agent getting “arrested” for caring too much about his clients somehow turned into me being jailed, conducting travel business during visitation, raising bail money, getting released, getting re-arrested, breaking out of jail with a little horsepower, and finally deciding the safest option was to permanently relocate somewhere tropical with no extradition. I’d say things escalated quickly.

I want to give a huge THANK YOU to Jeff, Trisha, Stacey, Chris, Brandon, David, Marty and Jonathan for letting me have a little fun with them throughout this series. When you own a small business, sometimes you have to be willing to do something a little different, laugh at yourself, and hopefully give people something they’ll actually stop scrolling to look at.

That’s really what this series was about.

I’m always trying to come up with unique content that brings some personality and fun to growing Mosaic Journeys by Clay. There are plenty of travel posts showing beautiful beaches and resorts—and I love those too—but I also want people to get to know the person behind the business and maybe get a few laughs along the way.

So yes, the arrests were fake. The jail breaks were fake. Stacey did not actually pull a jail wall down with horses. And as far as I know, Sgt. Burrow is no longer looking for me.
BUT...This is REAL...I have gotten bookings from them! (And it is greatly appreciated)

But one part of this entire series was absolutely true:

CLAY'S PERSONAL FAVORITES

One of my favorite cruise purchases may not be the most exciting item on a packing list, but it has definitely been one of the most useful—a portable ceiling fan! (Don't forget the magnetic hooks too!) And a thanks to my friend for over 45 years, Sean, for telling me about this item.

Cruise cabins are generally cool enough, so this is not necessarily about fixing a hot room. For me, it is more about keeping the air moving, making the cabin feel more comfortable, and having that familiar breeze or noise while relaxing or sleeping.

The magnetic hooks are just as important as the fan. Cruise cabin walls and ceilings often have metal surfaces, so the hooks help keep the fan cord neatly secured and out of the way instead of hanging loosely around the room.

It is a simple setup, but it can make a big difference in comfort—especially in a smaller cabin.

Portable ceiling fan and magnetic hooks: definitely going on my cruise packing list every time!
