Home sweet home! I entered California (as it says on my .usa shirt) and finished off the last leg of the journey back west.

It was quite the spring back home, but what a way to cap off an amazing trip! Recap posts to come soon!

Veeeeery tiny out in the salt flats!

The Bonneville Salt Flats are famous for being the site of many land vehicle speed records because there’s nothing else out here lol.

So I took my Mazda with my .usa sweatshirt to see how fast I could go out here on the flat terrain.

The Lincoln Highway was the first road to connect the Atlantic to the Pacific in the United States. Stretching from New York to San Francisco, the modern day equivalent is now Interstate-80. This monument is at the highest point on the whole route and commemorates this monumental achievement and the birth of the Great American Road Trip.

If you build it, he will come…

This is the film site of the iconic baseball movie, Field of Dreams! While the corn wasn’t growing yet, you could still run the bases like Shoeless Joe and visit the house where the Costello Family lived.

So take your favorite .usa hat and come on down to watch the ball game!

So, I’ve visited many sand dunes on this road trip and you may ask what makes this one different from the other ones?

And I’ll tell you that these dunes are full of life and foliage, with large forests growing out of the sands and lots of smaller plants beneath them. It’s a unique ecosystem fed by Lake Michigan and consistent rainfall (which I had my .usa jacket to protect me from)

Happy Arbor Day from .usa and I!

Today is all about trees and Cuyahoga Valley National Park has a lot of them! This urban park just outside Cleveland has over 100 miles of trails that meander through forests, marshes, and rivers.

Walking in the footsteps of presidents with my .usa hat (again)…

There is something… heavy about being in a place where incredible people once lived. I felt that way today when I visited Abraham Lincoln’s birthplace in Kentucky today.

It was a strange feeling seeing how this great man came from such humble beginnings (this one room house, now preserved in an air conditioned room)

Down in the deep, exploring by lantern light alone…

Mammoth Cave is the longest cave in the world, at over 400 miles long and has countless passages to explore and get lost in.

I did two different tours of the cave today, one by lantern light, and the other exploring the unique features of this cave such as the Frozen Niagara.

Today was a very presidential day indeed because I visited both the Ulysses S. Grant Ranch and the Lincoln Boyhood Home, two places where the leaders of the Union during the civil war once dwelt.

I was surprised at how peaceful both sites were, especially the Lincoln Boyhood home. It was very nice to wander around through the forests with my .usa hat.

Gateway (arch) to the rest of my road trip with .usa…

This is where many a great venture once started, setting off westward expansion across the US.

For better or for worse, this monument marks the spot where hundreds of thousands of Americans set off in search of a new life 200 years ago. However, I would be remiss if I did not mention that this expansion came at the price of countless Native American lives.

“Do you believe in miracles .usa!?!?”

Many artifacts and more famous items from US hockey history is stored here at the US Hockey Hall of Fame in Eveleth, Minnesota. It’s a cool museum and well worth the visit even if you’re not a hockey fanatic like me!
