This is the official page of the Mills Family Waterpark on Lake Martin, Alabama, and the place where we share all the things we love about the Lake Martin area and living on the lake full time! This is also the home of Leslie of the Lake, where I post everything I love about beautiful Lake Martin and the surrounding area, and all the joys of living here full time! May through Mid-September, open every day, 7am - 7pm. (The last Waterparkin' Weekend for 2024 is September 13th - 15th, so make plans to come enjoy the Waterpark any day between now and 9/15/24!)
Who can enjoy the park? Our Waterpark is intended for little kids, but parents and older siblings are encouraged and welcome to join them! Location:
We are directly across from The Landing at Parker Creek and Parker Creek Marina on Lake Martin, AL! Just look for the little green cabin with the giant two-story dock and a menagerie of inflatables out front! Rules and Friendly Reminders:
John and I are delighted to set up the Mills Family Waterpark every spring and look forward to it throughout the off season. Please courteously respect these reminders so that everyone can have as much fun as possible!
1. "Parking": Please idle your boat outside the waterpark. Do not tie boats off to our dock or tie PWC's (jet skis, Sea-Doos) to our buoys.
2. Little ones jumping in to the Waterpark must wear life jackets, depending on their age and abilities. Please respect the same Alabama Law age requirement for wearing life jackets on boats, and practice good judgement on requiring older children who are not strong swimmers to wear life jackets in the Waterpark. https://www.alea.gov/dps/marine-patrol/safe-boating #:~:text=Expect%20the%20unexpected%20and%20wear,jacket%20while%20on%20a%20boat.
2. The Waterpark is intended for younger kids only, not for older teens or adults unless they are accompanying the little ones; HOWEVER, we encourage older siblings and parents to jump in and play LIKE the little kids WITH the little kids! �
3. Please do not drive to our house in your car to visit the Waterpark. Just make us a happy stop on your boating day!
4. Please do not step onto our dock or property, but have a great time playing in the Waterpark.
5. It would be nice (but not mandatory) if your "sign our guestbook" by sending a Facebook message to this page, or by simply commenting on one of our posts that you're coming to play in the Waterpark. If we don't respond immediately, it's still okay for you to jump in with your little ones and have a wonderful time! It just helps us get to know our lake friends! �
6. Play in the Waterpark at your own risk, and HAVE A WONDERFUL WATERPARKIN' DAY! The Mills Family Waterpark Story:
Many of you have known us by our nickname "The Walmart Waterpark"� for many years, but what's our story? The Mills Family Waterpark started in 2016 when we bought our little Parker Creek cabin on Lake Martin. We didn't have any inflatables, but my husband, John, tossed our Super Mable tube into the lake, flipped it upsidedown like a slide, and tied it off to our dock. On that day, the Mills Family Waterpark was born! It was a total hit with our daughter, Grace, and her friends! Every year, we'd add a few more inflatables, and when our sweet neighbors would ride by and ask if their little ones could play, how could we possibly refuse? Eventually, we realized that the lake neighbor kiddies looked forward to the Mills Family Waterpark every year, which is awesome because we love putting it together! It's a "family affair" as our daughter, Grace, has always been right there with us, building the Waterpark every spring! Who we are:
My husband, John Mills, is from Fort Gaines, Georgia, and I'm from Montgomery. We met in 2004, married in 2005, and our greatest blessing, Grace, was born in 2008. Our second date was a picnic at Wind Creek State Park on Lake Martin, where we fell in love with each other and the lake at the same time! John is a "self-made man" who built a successful career as a mortgage loan officer in the Montgomery area and now leads a top team at Fairway Independent Mortgage. She has completed all of her highschool classes and is working on her Associates Degree! She is her father's "right-hand man" with all of the duties involved with maintaining a wooded acre on Lake Martin, and the Waterpark wouldn't be possible without her enthusiastic help! I'm the glue! � And I'm Leslie of the Lake, the girl constantly posting about our adventures on beautiful Lake Martin and all the cool places surrounding us!
