Had Eric, David and 5 year old Owen join us today from the town where I grew up. I went to school with Eric’s daughter and we were friends throughout high school. I also played basketball at the YMCA with Eric when I was just a youngin, so having them on the boat was pretty cool. Owen did awesome for his age and reeled in fish better than most. It was great to catch up and reminice while catching some really nice eyes. They went home with enough fish to feed all of Carlisle street, that’s for sure!

Good past few days of fishing. Overall size of fish was a bit smaller than last week, but still good quality. Pleasure having Mitch’s crew join us for back to back days on the boat. We will see them again in a few weeks. Also, thanks to Capt. Kyle with 12 Mile Charters for allowing us to run a group trip for Corey and his company. Good times were had with all.

Busy few days of fishing with some great guests. First up we had Bob from Rochester. He fished with me in the spring for jumbo perch on the Ranger and we had a blast. He came back for a relaxing day of trolling for walleye, but it turned out to be a circus. Working solo, Bob reeled in fish after fish until we were all wore out. What a day. Next we had Jennifer and Luke up from Georgia. This was Aunt Jennifer’s senior trip for Luke. Thanks to Mark’s Musky Adventures for the recommendation, as they will be chasing musky with him on Chautauqua this weekend. We started off by drifting harnesses with them and catching some quality fish before the wind picked up and got to be too much. We resorted to trolling and picked up a great box of fish. Good luck with the musky this weekend! Last trip of the day was Sean from Arizona. Sean was a previous boat salesman for bass pro and we were so impressed with his concern for conservation for our fish and fishery. Being solo and deciding what to keep and what to throw back was hard for him, but all he wanted was a 7 pounder heading out. We were able to do that for him and landed this beauty weighing in at 7 on the dot. Sean soaked in all the knowledge, asking questions and taking notes. Great young man. Looking forward to the weekend!

Big limits for both crews today. After the initial morning bite, we definitely had to work harder for them than we had all year. I don’t think I have reached that level of exhaustion since I used to run triples in the Outer Banks. It all paid off in the end for the clients, as both the morning and afternoon parties took home solid boxes of fish. The first trip we had Bill return back with his family after him and his business partners joined us a few weeks back. First fish of the day, mom lands an absolute stud and doesn’t want to reel in a fish the rest of the trip. Imagine never playing golf, walking up to the first tee box, hitting a hole-in-one and not playing the rest of the round! They were a great crew and we shared tons of laughs. Robert and Owen from South Dakota rounded out our second trip and put a solid 12 on the board. We really enjoyed listening to some of the things going on out in the Plains and we talked hunting and just had a nice relaxing evening on the water. We really had to chip away at them as the mid afternoon wore on, and fishing was tough at times. While there’s tons of fish out there, there’s also plenty of dead water. Never needed a day off so much in my life. Back at it soon!

This might just be the biggest box of the season so far! For those worrying about the recent lake turnover, walleye fishing still remains outstanding. We made some slight adjustments and slid out a little deeper and ran our numbers a touch deeper than normal, and it paid off with a batch of bigger fish. While it wasn’t as fast and furious as prior to the big blow, the quality was definitely there. I’m so glad that Matt and his family had a great day on the water, after we have to cancel his Lake Trout trip in the Spring and reschedule for walleye. They were a great crew to make some memories with. If you do go out to deeper water, pay attention to where the fish are sitting in relation to the thermocline. I hope this eases some anxiety for those that haven’t fished since early last week. Tight lines.

It was a busy weekend for fishing which has led me to fall behind on posts, so let’s catch everyone up! On Friday, we had Tom join us for a day of largemouth fishing on the bay. We boated somewhere around 25 fish, caught some really nice ones, and lost a few big ones. Great day on the water.
Saturday kicked off our two day derby between our boat and 12 Mile Charters. A group of 9 set up this format and wanted to have some fun, while fishing for bragging rights. Chris and crew have fished with us for 3 seasons now and have become more than just clients, they are truly friends. After day 1, we were down by 1lb, but came back strong on day 2, winning by 6+lbs overall. My first mate Lucas was a complete dog in the cockpit all weekend, sealing the deal on our championship rings. Thanks to Capt. Kyle for making this a fun outing for the guys. Love you brother.
Saturday afternoon we had return client Scott and his family join us for a trolling trip. Scott is a great fisherman and wanted his family to do most of the reeling, and that they did. We boxed our limit in 3 foot waves and had an overall great time out there.
After Sunday mornings’ derby trip, we had Dylon’s crew out from West Virginia. He was referred to us through a coworker and brought a really cool group of guys with him. Thanks Jenna! We talked hunting, fishing, and did a lot of catching. Limits were achieved. They can’t wait to come back for another trip for another species soon.
Monday morning was another special one, when I was able to take one of my best friends growing up and 2 of his kids out for a morning of trolling. Zak and I have known each other since middle school, and while life may take everyone in different directions, it was great to get together and just catch up for a few hours, while letting the kids reel in the majority of the fish. Big shout out to Cody for helping make this trip possible. You were awesome.
That about wraps it up. Looks like a few blow days are coming, then we will be back out there fishing this weekend. Hope everyone is soaking up the last bit of Summer because before you know it we will all be thinking of steelhead and big bucks!

Larry and his crew joined me back in 2023 when I was running walleye charters out of the Ranger 620. They had a really good day on the water and caught some nice fish. When Larry found out he was going to be back in town this year, he booked back to back days with his friends and business partners. These guys had 2 stellar days, catching great limits of fish and sharing some great laughs on the boat. Until next year boys!

Dawn and Brian were here since Friday, as their trip was supposed to be on the big blow day. I had to cancel and yesterday afternoon was the last chance to sneak them out before they had to leave. I give them a lot of credit, as the weather man was wrong again. The 1-3 foot forecast was more like solid 4’s with some 5 foot rollers mixed in. They said they wanted to fish, so we fished. Despite challenging conditions, the bite was good and they were able to get their limit of fish. Capt. Jaime did an outstanding job of handling the boat in tough waves, keeping the laughs rolling, and even serving as DJ playing songs to accompany such tough conditions. Very thankful for his “creativity” we will call it😂🤷🏼‍♂️.

Yesterday morning we had Craig, Amanda, Corbin and Tim join us. After quickly learning how to set lines, Craig was running his side of the boat, while Corbin had his. Everyone worked together as a team to boat their 24 fish. The crew took home a few t-shirts and Amanda was nice enough to give me some of her skin care treatment for my hand. I have already seen improvement over night! Amanda, feel free to drop your business info in the comments if anyone is interested. Hopefully this crew will come back to join us again!

Heck of a double today. We fished with no boats in sight and caught plenty of quality fish all day long. Nina’s crew from Dubois had an awesome morning and she may have been even more whitty than Captain Jamie. She even managed to lose a fish and launch a spoon like a 30-06 from 40 feet away and hit me where it counts! Matt and son’s from Penn Trafford were so close to Canada we had them saying, “Eh?” The fish made us show them our passports, but still cooperated. What a day!
