We’ve got some news to share…we are taking a step back.

When we scheduled our first official climb in 2023, we weren’t sure if anyone would even show up. Since then it has become abundantly clear that folks want to climb trees and love what we offer! Almost every climb we've hosted has been full and a great success. Our biggest issue right now is our own capacity.

Profit has never been our priority, and we started Tree Climbing Eugene anticipating that we’d maintain part-time employment elsewhere while we grow the business. This season threw us a curveball when Wil was offered an awesome full-time job at Homes for Good, working for a cause that is also dear to us. While we’ve been trying to make climbing work with limited capacity this season, it just isn’t. (We don't really advocate for grind culture around here.)

So, for now, we are going to take a step back from Tree Climbing Eugene, and re-strategize how we can create a sustainable, low cost way to offer rec climbing to the community.

To those of you who have registered for an upcoming open climb or scheduled a private climb, please check your inbox for details about your specific situation tomorrow morning. I apologize for the delay - as you can imagine, this has been a very difficult decision and has required some logistical shuffling.

To those of you who signed your kid(s) up for one of our partner climbs later this summer, please know that we will be doing everything we can to honor those climbs and get your kiddos in the tree!

And to those of you who haven’t had a chance to sign up or climb yet - we are so sorry. But do not fret! We plan to come back for version 2.0; we don’t know what it will look like, or when, but we will be back!

The way you all have embraced us, encouraged us, and joined us in our love for climbing trees has been truly life giving. And we are so very grateful! (Words don’t quite do justice.)

So annoying! We were looking forward to climbing in the rain today, but we don't climb in thunder or high wind.

I like to break rules sometimes, but we're sticklers for following safety rules. Our safety policy states that we will cancel a climb for any amount of thunder OR winds reaching 25 mph, so it would be irresponsible of us to let our stubborn desire to climb ignore the forecast.

Sorry friends!

📅Open Climb Schedule Update📅

We have a couple updates to our upcoming Open Climbs:

- Only ONE spot left for this Saturday @ Washburne Park! Sign up ASAP to save that last spot - link is in our bio. I will send out an email with climb times on Thursday.
- 4th Sunday Climb @ Maurie Jacobs will be cancelled in June and July

Thank you, in advance, for your understanding and flexibility! We are doing our best to keep our open climbs consistent, but we're also a small team of two with a limited capacity.

We are so grateful for your enthusiasm for tree climbing and your continued support! We love what we do and couldn't do it without you!

Some photos from our recent open climb at Maurie Jacobs Park 🌳

We had two limb walkers in one day! And while we didn't snap a photo for privacy, one of them (cautiously) busted some moves up on the branch! It was quite impressive!

Thank you to everyone who came out to climb. We had an awesome day with you!

Thank you for the wonderful tree drawings, Evey and Luna! We had so much fun with you today! 💚🌳

Tomorrow's climb filled up fast with reschedules - thank you to everyone for being so understanding about our cancelled climbs last month!

Online signups for tomorrow are closed, but we do have a couple of open spots around 2:20p, so grab a friend and stop by to soak up some shady tree time!

We'll be set up at Maurie Jacobs Park near the soccer field and parking lot off of Fir Lane.

We look forward to seeing some of you tomorrow! 💚🌳

We're beyond ready for a climb this weekend! We'll be at Maurie Jacobs Park from 12-3pm on Sunday and we've still got some open spots!

We hope to see you there!

Open Climbs are an opportunity to drop in and try out tree climbing. The rope systems will be set up in the trees and a facilitator will walk you through safely ascending into the canopy. We guide a maximum of three climbers at a time, so we also include take-home field journals and access to our “tree library” for exploration as participants rotate through.

🌳 No experience required! People ages 5+ are welcome to climb; minors must be accompanied by an adult. Climbing saddles fit waist sizes 20"-45”.

🌳 Drop in or save your spot
We guide 3 climbers at a time and generally max. at 12 climbs in a 3-hour window. This means that you might show up and need to wait for the next open climbing saddle. You can drop in anytime between 12-3pm, put your name in the rotation, and hang out at the park if there is a wait, OR you can “save a spot” in the rotation by signing up ahead of time. (Link in bio and at treeclimbingeugene.com/open-climbs)

🌳 Pay what you can
We invite you to pay within your means and otherwise trust you to decide what a climb feels “worth” to you. We suggest $20 if you’re looking for a number. No one will be turned away due to lack of funds.

🌩️Climb cancelled due to chance of thunder🌩️

We were prepared to climb in the rain, but we don't mess with thunder. Super bummed to have to cancel our first open climb at Washburne Park, but as always, we can only do this if we put safety first.

Thanks for understanding and we'll see you next time! 🌳🐿️💚

The Canopy Experience

We use proven, safe tree climbing techniques to experience nature on another level.

Whether escaping vertically into a hidden world above a city park, or venturing out into the woods to find new giants to befriend, we take every precaution to minimize our impact on the trees we climb and their surroundings.

There is no other experience quite like climbing up into a canopy. Fun(!), calming, exhilarating, therapeutic, transformative; These are all words people have used while attempting to define Recreational Tree Climbing. It’s difficult to describe the way time passes in the trees, and we love the uniqueness each climb provides.

At Embark Tree Climbing, It’s our favorite thing to do, and our favorite thing to share with others.
