What gear do you need to cycle the Camino? We’ve got you covered!

You don’t need to be a pro biker or already own all the cycling equipment to enjoy this trip — we’ll provide pretty much everything you need.

Our Camino Tips:
Basic athletic clothing, shoes, and gear you already own probably suffice, but here’s a quick list of things we recommend.
😎 Sunglasses that will fit under a helmet
🎒 Daypack, specifically to carry a water bladder like a Camelbak - the rest can go in your panniers
🩳 Spandex shorts that won’t ride up as you cycle - consider padded (or getting a separate padded seat cover)
🧤 Bike gloves - not essential but nice for added comfort

🛠️ In addition to the repair kit we provide to you, you’ll also have a 24/7 local emergency number to call (in English) should you require immediate assistance on the route.

Arriving to Porto for a Camino, or a Self-Guided Walking or Cycling tour?

Here are your options for getting from the airport to the city center — all are trade offs between cost, time, and convenience.

1. 🚗 We can organize a private transfer for you. $65 for one car carrying up to 3 passengers. 20-30 min into city center.
2. 🚕 Taxi, Uber, Bolt
3. 🚉 You can take public transit. 2.90€ per person. 45-60 min.

3 things I wish I realized sooner about this style of travel!

Self-Guided Walking tours are the perfect blend of convenience (for all of the trip logistics) and independence (for fun things like meals and activities)!

You also don’t need to be crazy athletic to enjoy a walking tour - they can entail walking for just a few hours a day, at your own pace, on relatively easy terrain, making this travel style within reach for most people with an average physical fitness.
