🇮🇹When in Rome continued…..

We stayed 3 nights at The Inn at the Roman Forum. Absolutely perfect location. We could walk to all the sites we wanted. Colosseum, Roman Forum, we walked to and from our food tour in Trastevere.

The video is a short glimpse of what many of the boutique type hotels are like in Italy. Ours did have a/c and a tiny elevator. There are no room numbers on the door/wall so you better remember the way. Old school keys were needed to get into the building and into our room.

No traditional lobby. This hotel did have a staff person 24/7 in the main building and they were all absolutely amazing.

Jet lagged Recap!
Our Mediterranean adventure was wonderful!
-4 new countries to us (Italy, Greece, Croatia and Montenegro)
-4 cities visited in Italy (Rome, Civitavecchia, Naples, Capri)
-15k to 20k steps per day (except sea days)
-amazing food and coffee we are both missing greatly!
-kind people were met everywhere

✈️We learned the new EES at the Rome airport and had success✅
🧳We bypassed lots of lines by traveling with carryons only and I survived not overpacking 😝 (I did one load of laundry on the ship)
📱The Freenow app worked awesome in Rome for Taxis

🇮🇹Naples, Italy

Our last port of our cruise. 😞 So many people we met are staying on for another week and hitting new ports. Wish we were joining them but alas we head home tomorrow. It’s been an absolute dream trip and if you haven’t been to the Mediterranean and it’s on your list—let’s talk!

Today I booked us a tour through Princess that took us over to the island of Capri for the day. It was absolutely wonderful.
🚢We started with a jetfoil boat ride over to the island. New experience for us! Then we took a small bus up to Anacapri. Once there we had free time and they have a 🏔️ Chairlift that goes all the way up so we of course did that. 13 min ride each way. Amazing views from the top!
Then we were able to shop a bit, in the pouring rain. Thankfully it waited until we were off the chairlift!
🚎Next we got back on the bus and it took us back down to Capri where we had an amazing Italian lunch. Pasta, chicken, potatoes and dessert. Of course vino too.
After lunch we walked down to the fancy area of Capri where all the high end shopping is. Spent a little time there and met our group for our ride down on the “funicular” also known as a cable car. This took us right back to the marina where we boarded the jetfoil back to Naples!

Our bags are packed and we’re as ready as we can be for the long flight home tomorrow.

🌊 Sea Day!

Today was a lovely sea day! Love sitting on the balcony enjoying all the gorgeous scenery as we passed by the bottom of the “boot” of Italy and back through the Messina Strait!

Then we were invited to the Captain’s Circle Party. This was a first for us and it was very fun! They announce the most sailed cruisers and funny story, I met them and chatted with them for a while earlier in the day! Great couple, Monika & Neil from Scotland! So fun! They’ve sailed 1421 days on Princess! 😮

Today was a reminder that some days are not your days, but still feeling blessed to be in this beautiful place with my wonderful partner in life.

We had tickets for the Blue Cave boat tour. Honestly, this was probably the tour I was the most excited about. We were to take the first tender from the ship. ✅

Arrived in town by 7:30a for the 9am tour. No problem we’ll explore a bit. Did that and got to the meeting spot to find out our tour was cancelled due to weather. Rain/storms pop up fast here apparently. (It was sunny when we got to the meeting spot). Ok well that’s a bummer but we know how to pivot. We found another tour for 40 euros/each that would skip the stuff out in the sea where it would be rough and stay in the bays. Cool. 10 min later it was DOWNPOURING. The guide said no worries we have rain gear on the boat. Cool!
5 min before we were to head out, the lady we bought the tickets from handed me 80 euros in cash. Oh apparently this one is cancelled now too. Ok this isn’t happening today. 😞
We did a little shopping in the pouring rain and headed back to the ship.
I was able to do some travel work with a stunning background.

One thing about me and my business…I never want to let people down. I’m having some issues with a vendor/hotel/contract and I will do absolutely everything I can to make it work so I spent most of the afternoon working on that. Tony was my sounding board, food getter and hugger when things get rough. 💕 He really does love going to the buffet 😊

🇭🇷Dubrovnik, Croatia

Oh man let’s see if I can summarize our day in words.

We hired a private driver to take us to Cavtat, Croatia. Just south of Dubrovnik and it was 1000% worth it! We got there before most places were even open. We strolled the whole village. Had the most wonderful cappuccinos and latte by the sea. OMG it was sooooo spectacular.

Then our driver picked us back up and dropped us off in Old Town Dubrovnik. Absolute zoo but was really cool to see some of the Game of Thrones filming spots. We climbed all the way up one of the forts for a spectacular view of the walls.

Our driver picked us back up again and dropped us off back at our ship.

Photos do NOT do this place justice. I am absolutely in love with Croatia and we both said we’ll for sure be back 💕

Today we were in Corfu, Greece!

We had a tour through Shore Excursions Group. A drive through the countryside, lots of olive trees, the famous one being the Kalamata Olive.

We stopped at Lazaros Distillery where we tasted Kumquat Liquor and candies.

Then we headed to Paleokastritsa and checked out the beach, put our toes in the water, shopped a little and back on the bus.

One of the villages we drove through has 2 stop lights...1 at either end of the village. It is so narrow & tight to get through this village as the buildings are right " on the road", the stop light is 7 minutes 35 seconds long.
That's how long it took the bus to get through and it’s only about 3 blocks long.

We headed further up the mountain and had the most stunning views from a restaurant called Castellino in Lakones. We had a tasty snack, sampled their w**e, and got some stunning photos.

It was a cloudy day but in the upper 60s/low 70s.

It was crazy busy everywhere as there were 5 ships including us.
Princess, Carnival, Oceania, Azamara
and Regent Seven Seas.

Sea Day!
It was nice to have a sea day today. We transited through the Strait of Messina, (Between Sicily and the ‘boot’ of Italy), sailed past Mount Stromboli which is an active volcano. You could see the smoke as we sailed by.

It’s also Formal night 🥰
