Foodie Friday

Buenos Aires is a food lover's paradise, blending its European influences with Argentine traditions to create a vibrant culinary scene.

ASADO: The centerpiece of Argentine cuisine, a variety of grilled meats like beef, pork, chorizo, and morcilla (blood sausage), cooked slowly over a wood or charcoal fire.

Asado is essential to the national identity of the Argentinians. Asado refers to the meal and the gathering. Nevertheless, it is as much about friends and family gathering as the meats and vegetables are expertly grilled over the coals and served in stages over the next hours. This is done until the main course is ready. Usually, an Asado consists of beef, pork, chicken, chorizo, and morcilla-all accompanied by red wine and salads.

Pictured grilled beef and chimichurri sauce. Chimichurri is made using olive oil, vinegar, garlic, parsley, oregano, laurel, black pepper, chili, salt, and lemon juice.

Happy National Chocolate Cake Day!

The "Sachertorte" is a famous Viennese cake and probably the most famous chocolate cake in the world since 1832. The delicious treat consists of 3 layers of chocolate sponge cake with thickly spread apricot jam in between and on the top. The whole cake is covered in chocolate icing. When served properly, it's presented to you with a portion of unsweetened whipped cream. The recipe remains a well-kept secret of the Sacher Hotel in Vienna, where you can enjoy a slice of the original Sachertorte.
