Four years ago, I was laid up with a broken back and a crushed skull — L3 to L5 shattered, thirteen fractures on the right side of my head.
It happened in a hit-and-run while I was packing a black bear out for a buddy, riding an old Honda dirt bike down a logging road. One second I was hauling meat, the next I was fighting for my life.
Back then, I wondered if my days of big game, heavy loads, and backcountry grinds were over.
This year, I got my answer — and it felt damn good.
I don’t take these pack-outs for granted anymore. But here I am, four years later, hauling 220+ pounds of bear over three brutal loads through some of the nastiest brush the woods could throw at me.
Still out here.
Still built for it.
