A few weeks ago, Winston had a bit of a mishap and fell through the hatch, injuring one of his toes. It looked scary in the moment, but we’re happy to report he’s healing really well.

These days he’s back to soaking up the sunshine, keeping watch from the deck, and generally loving life like nothing ever happened. Big dog, big heart, big resilience.

Thank you to everyone who checked in on him — it truly meant a lot.

What started as a “small problem” turned into a full stop on our plans, a lot of head-scratching, and more than a few really? moments. The kind where you’re sure the fix is obvious… until it isn’t.

Last season taught us a hard lesson the expensive way: we lost an anchor because we didn’t seize the shackle. 😬

This time, no shortcuts. Daniel’s installing our new 55 lb Mantus anchor, and the most important step isn’t the shiny steel; it’s the quiet, unglamorous detail you don’t skip: seizing wire on the shackle. That tiny step is what keeps a great anchor from becoming an artificial reef.

We’ve been really impressed with the design and holding power from Mantus Marine , and after what we’ve learned, doing it right matters just as much as buying the right gear.

This one was not on the boatyard to-do list… but boatyards love rearranging priorities.
While we waited on other projects to move forward, we decided to tackle a long-ignored annoyance: rebedding our salon safari window frames. Simple, right?
Turns out the frames had been epoxied to the hull by a previous owner. So instead of “pop it out and rebed,” we spent:
• a full day chiseling it free
• another full day cleaning it up
• and just enough sanity to question our life choices
The good news? The frame is rebedded and no longer leaking.
The bad news? The window itself still leaks… but that’s a problem for another day. 🤪

Boatyard plans have a funny way of changing on you.

Our new Autoprops showed up damaged, and with the season clock still ticking, we had a choice: sit still and wait on answers… or keep moving forward with what we had.
So we pivoted.

Prepped the old props, laid down fresh antifoul, and kept pushing toward splash day.
Is it the plan we started with? Nope.
Is it the plan that keeps us moving? Absolutely.
If you watched the episode, you already know—this season is about adaptability as much as adventure. And sometimes progress looks like embracing what’s already bolted to the boat.
