📍 Galveston’s Best Kept Secret: Beach Access 1A

If you’ve ever headed to the island only to find the Seawall or your usual spot completely packed, you’ll want to save this post.

Most people drive right past this access point without realizing it’s there. Tucked right in between The Preserve at Grand Beach and the site of the upcoming Margaritaville, this stretch offers a much quieter, more secluded vibe.

The long boardwalk takes you right over the dunes to a wide-open shoreline where you actually have room to breathe. It’s the perfect "plan B" that usually ends up becoming a new favorite.

Next time the crowds are thick, keep heading east—your private piece of the island is waiting.

Happy World Book Day! There is something about the rhythm of the water that makes a good story even better.

Whether you are tucked away on a quiet stretch of the beach, watching the tide come in on the bay, or lounging by a canal on the West End, the island offers endless spots to get lost in a book. With the sun out and a light breeze off the Gulf, it’s the perfect day to find a local corner, slow down, and just read.

Grab your favorite read, find a spot by the water, and enjoy the peace.

📍 The Edge of the Island: Galveston’s Furthest East Point

🌊 If you want to get as far East as possible on Galveston Island, this is it!

To find this secluded stretch, just drive all the way through the East Beach parking lot until the sand opens up. This is where the Gulf meets the Galveston Ship Channel, and it offers a perspective of the island you just can’t get anywhere else.

🚢 Ship Watcher’s Paradise:
This is the ultimate "front row seat." You can walk right out toward the jetty for the closest possible views of the massive vessels moving in and out of the port.

Missed Fleet Week? This would have been the absolute best spot on the island to watch the fleet come in!

Cruise Fans: With cruise ships moving through the channel multiple days a week, this is your go-to location to catch those iconic "bon voyage" shots or wave to the passengers heading out to sea.

🚶‍♂️ Whether you’re here for a quiet walk on the wide-open sand or to marvel at the scale of the tankers and cruise boats, the furthest East point of the island is a must-visit.

🏝️ There is nothing quite like the wide-open views at East Beach! If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to head down, the recent rain has done us a huge favor—it has packed down the sand beautifully, making it the perfect surface for a long beach walk or setting up your spot for the day.

🐦 We caught this massive flock of gulls enjoying the peace and quiet today. One of the best parts about hanging out at the East Beach parking area is the incredible vantage point. While the birds take over the shoreline, you can look out toward the horizon and watch the massive ships and tankers navigating the channel from Galveston Bay out to the Gulf. 🚢

☀️ With a sunny weekend on the horizon, now is the time to start mapping out your trip. Whether you're here for the ship watching, the birding, or just to soak up the salt air, East Beach is calling!

Stay warm this winter with a Galveston local favorite! ❄️🍤

If you’re looking for the ultimate southern comfort on the Island, look no further than Miller's Seawall Grill. While they are a beloved institution for serving giant breakfasts all day long, their menu goes deep into true comfort territory.

One dish we absolutely love is their Liver and Onions. It’s a classic, hard-to-find gem that hits the spot when the gulf breeze gets a little chilly. Beyond that, Miller's offers plenty of other ways to warm up, from their hearty Gumbo and Chicken Fried Steak to their famous Shrimp and Gouda Grits. 🍲🥖

There’s nothing like a home-cooked style meal with a view of the Seawall to keep you cozy during the winter months.

Now we want to hear from you! What is your absolute favorite comfort meal in Galveston, and where do you get it? Let us know in the comments! 👇🏝️

Reflecting on an incredible year, it’s clear that our love for Galveston only grows deeper with every sunset over the West End. 2025 was a landmark year for the Island, filled with major milestones and new beginnings that have further solidified our home as a premier coastal destination.

2025: A Year of Growth and Celebration

A Historic Bicentennial: We officially celebrated the 200th Anniversary of the Port of Galveston, honoring two centuries of maritime heritage with the massive "Party on the Pier" and a gala that brought our community together.

Cruise Capital Expansion: In November, we welcomed MSC Cruises to the Island with the opening of the new $156 million Cruise Terminal 16. Seeing the MSC Seascape homeport here is a total game-changer for our economy and local travel.

New Local Flavors: Our culinary scene reached new heights with the launch of Milk & Honey Baking Company on Postoffice Street and the island-favorite Katie’s Seafood House To-Go Truck on the Seawall.

Community Milestones: We celebrated the return of the Keller Williams Horizons office to the Island for the first time since Hurricane Ike—a true testament to Galveston's resilience and growth.

Unforgettable Nature: Beyond the events, it was the simple luxuries that stayed with us—like witnessing a massive flock of over 100 pelicans soaring together near the Seawall, a breathtaking reminder of the natural beauty we get to call home.

Looking Forward to 2026

As we say goodbye to 2025, the momentum is just getting started! We are already T-ing off for a massive Mardi Gras! Galveston in February, with headliners like Wade Bowen and Gym Class Heroes set to take the stage.

With new businesses like Einstein Bros. Bagels slated to join our community early in the year and the Port expected to reach nearly 2 million passengers, 2026 is shaping up to be our most unforgettable year yet.

Goodbye 2025—Let’s make this next one unforgettable! 🥂🏝️
