Breastfeeding Support Is Closer Than You Think 🤍

Breastfeeding may be natural, but that doesn’t mean you’re expected to figure it out alone.

During National Breastfeeding Month, I’m highlighting some of the lactation resources available to families throughout South Louisiana:

🤍 Baton Rouge — Amanda with Magnolia Lactation
https://magnolialactation.com/

🤍 New Orleans — Amanda with NOLA Nesting Breastfeeding Support
https://www.nolanesting.com/breastfeeding-support

🤍 Lafayette — Jenny with Parish Doulas
https://www.parishdoulas.com/

Families can also find support through Woman’s Hospital, Ochsner lactation services, WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselors, La Leche League, and local IBCLCs (International Board Certified Lactation Consultants).

You don’t have to wait until breastfeeding feels difficult to reach out. Lactation support can help prenatally, during those first days home, with pumping and returning to work, or whenever your feeding journey changes.

Save this post—you or another parent may need it later.

Sometimes the best journey is the one you take slowly. 🌿

A babymoon doesn’t have to be filled with sightseeing or busy itineraries to be meaningful.

Sometimes it’s:

* a quiet morning with coffee
* a walk without a destination
* an afternoon nap
* an unhurried conversation about the future

Slow travel creates space to reconnect, reflect, and prepare for the transition into parenthood—whatever your family’s journey looks like.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the many paths to building a family and the importance of creating moments of connection before the next chapter begins.

✨ Slow travel.
✨ Steady transition.
✨ Meaningful memories.

🌿 This Juneteenth, I spent time in Donaldsonville exploring the legacy of Dr. John H. Lowery, early midwives, and the stories preserved at the River Road African American Museum.

As a doula, I’m reminded that birth work is built upon generations of care, knowledge, and community.

Sometimes travel isn’t about getting away—it’s about connecting more deeply to the stories that shaped us.

🌿 Travel has a way of connecting us—not only to places, but to stories.

This Juneteenth weekend, I spent time in Donaldsonville, Louisiana, reflecting on the generations who helped shape our communities and our understanding of care.

A visit to the office of Dr. John H. Lowery, a pioneering physician, revealed a dedicated wall honoring midwives and early birth workers whose knowledge and service supported families long before modern healthcare systems existed. The morning continued at the River Road African American Museum’s Rosenwald School, where history, resilience, and community remain beautifully preserved.

As a doula, I am continually reminded that birth work is rooted in connection, tradition, and the passing of knowledge from one generation to the next.

Travel can be about more than seeing new places. Sometimes it invites us to slow down, learn, and honor the journeys that came before our own.

Wishing everyone a meaningful Juneteenth weekend. ❤️🖤💚

Before life changes, take time to reconnect. 🌿

A babymoon isn’t about fitting in one last trip before baby arrives.

It’s about creating space to slow down, have unhurried conversations, dream about the future, and enjoy time together before your family grows.

No packed itinerary required.

Just time to reconnect, reflect, and enter this next chapter feeling a little more grounded—together.

✨ Connection is preparation, too.

A meaningful babymoon doesn’t need packed schedules or nonstop activity. 🌿

Sometimes the most supportive destinations are the quietest ones—places that allow you to slow down, rest, reconnect, and prepare for the season ahead together.

Comfort matters.
Pacing matters.
Rest matters.

Comfort-first travel looks different during pregnancy. 🌿

A babymoon does not need packed schedules, long excursions, or constant activity to be meaningful.

Sometimes the most supportive trips are the simplest:

* slow mornings
* comfortable spaces
* nourishing meals
* extra rest
* room to pause without guilt

Travel during pregnancy should support your body—not push it past its limits.

Comfort is not “doing less.”
Comfort is caring for yourself well in the season you are in.

✨ Slower can still be meaningful.
✨ Rest belongs in the itinerary.

Packing for a babymoon looks a little different through a doula’s eye. 🌿

Less pressure.
More comfort.

Instead of overpacking schedules and outfits, think about what helps you feel:

* rested
* nourished
* supported
* steady

Soft clothing. Hydration. Comfortable shoes. Space to slow down.

A babymoon isn’t about doing everything before baby arrives.
It’s about creating room to breathe, reconnect, and prepare for the transition ahead.

✨ Comfort is preparation too.
✨ Rest belongs in the itinerary.
