Good Morning All,

The MSBU Drilling Team would like to recognize Mason Schmidt, Devon Directional Driller on Cyclone 43. Mason was presented with a Devon hat for his commitment to excellence and recognizing hazards.

Unsafe Condition – Eric Eder 2/6/22 – While in the process of working bha, Mason stopped the job when he noticed the hydraulic tugger had too much tension on the mwd tool while retrieving it from the hang off sub. Mason had the MWD hand check the screwed down cap to make sure they had been backed out. The MWD hand was unaware that this tool was equipped with this feature and had not backed the screws out. The tool was safely removed, and a potential serious injury was avoided thanks to Mason for stopping the job to figure out why the situation wasn’t going as planned.

The MSBU Drilling Team would like to recognize Raul Mercado, Floorhand on Cyclone 40. Raul was presented a Devon hoodie and Cap for his Commitment to excellence and recognizing hazards.

While connecting tension limiter, Raul observed that the latch would not fully close. Before incident occurred, the job was stopped as the equipment was flagged out of service and replaced in kind.
