Wood storks, or “tantales” like to gather in groups in or near wetlands in search of food and shelter. They are highly sociable and they like to roost and feed in flocks. They can be found in the Atchafalaya Basin year round, but summer is their favorite season because of the low water. In the swamps they find crawfish, bugs, and plenty of other things to eat.
