The last few days of the BalloonFiesta continued to deliver amazing sights and experiences! We thought we had seen all the shape balloons earlier in the week, but there were so many more and new special shape balloons on Shape Days 😁. The field in front of our rig was busy again with lots of balloons coming in for their landings, and a few even stopped short and landed right next to rigs 😳! We had some beautiful sunsets shining on Sandia Peak, and the fireworks 💥 shows were spectacular!! We’re already thinking about coming again next year 🤔.

We got right out in the middle of the fiesta field to check out the “behind-the-scenes action” of ballooning. It was so cool to see the before and after process, and being surrounded by balloons lighting up for morning and evening glows was a top-tier life experience, no doubt!! This morning we were woken up by the sound of balloon burners and rushed out of the rig to find ourselves surrounded !! Many balloons landed in the “box” in front of us, and Scott even ran out to help with the landings. Everyday so far has exceeded our expectations, and it’s not over yet !🤩!

It’s been a little over a year since we completed our lithium-solar power system, and we’re totally happy with it !👏! As a recap —> we replaced our 8-AGM batteries with 6 Battle Born Lithium batteries. Scott installed them right where the old batteries were and installed the BMK in the compartment with the batteries, and new Magnum monitors over the entrance door. We boondock a lot so we took the extra step of adding 6 solar panels 200 watts each. We use the Magnum Solar controller, and everything communicates well together. We ran a test recently at a site with full hookups and turned the 50 amp service off for 24 hours. Starting at 6:30pm batteries were fully charged. We went 24 hours running everything as normal except no AC (temps are cool enough), used Auquahot heat (overnight temps in the upper 30’s). Used the water kettle, microwave, toaster, hair dryer, and worked most of the day using two computers (one with a large monitor). After 24 hours our batteries were at 77% State of Charge (SOC). It was partly cloudy during that day, so we are happy with the results. If you don’t dry camp much and go from park to park this is definitely not your set up — stay with the AGMs. But if you like to dry camp and have your daily life be enjoyable without the generator running twice a day, this will work. Scott did all the work himself with help from friends, and we have about $10,000 tied up in the whole system. Scott is mechanically inclined but not an electrical engineer. If you’re thinking about doing a similar set up, we hope this information is helpful ✌️😃. *

We're getting ready to head out for three weeks of no hook-ups / intermittent partial hook-ups. Prepping food ahead of time is a great way to save on water use and waste water. One of our favorites is Instant Pot chicken shredded and divided into freezer bags to be used in multiple meals. What's your favorite meal prep ?

We had a terrific day yesterday with You Me and the RV exploring Seguin, TX; great lunch Seguin Power Plant 🍴 and tasty coffee treats Court Street Coffee Shop ☕️. It’s a nice walk around the town square with numerous historical buildings and markers that give you a sense of the town’s history. We enjoy checking out small towns and even better with good friends 👏😀!

We haven’t been posting here and on YouTube as much as we’d like the last couple of months, and we’ll be getting back to that soon. We’ve been pouring a lot of effort into launching a couple of entrepreneurial endeavors. For example, today we are hanging out at Kennedy Lake in Tucson for 1000 Lights Water Lantern Festival and marketing for one of our ventures - ViaVista Voyages by Dream Vacations. We’ll share more about the other business later but for now we’re happy to have the opportunity to build something for ourselves while we travel the country.
