Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

As a travel company, we have the privilege of taking student and adult groups to the three memorial sites connected to that day: the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in New York City, the Pentagon Memorial in Washington, DC, and Flight 93 National Memorial in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

For younger generations who have no personal memory of September 11, visiting these places offers an important opportunity to learn the stories of those who were lost, the courage of first responders and ordinary citizens, and the remarkable spirit of service and unity that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. And we help the next generation understand why we must never forget.

A: They go on tour together, of course! 😂

Five of the fantastic tour leaders who regularly work with Scholastica Travel recently headed to Washington, DC for a little exploring of their own! 🇺🇸

Their stops included the newly opened Lincoln Memorial Undercroft along with several other DC sites—checking out what’s new, brushing up on their destination knowledge, and, naturally, having some fun along the way!

It’s one of the things we love about the people who lead our groups: their curiosity doesn’t stop when the tour ends. There’s always something new to discover, a story to learn, or a place to explore. 😄

A student travel conference in our own backyard? We were pretty excited about this one! 🖤💛

The 2026 SYTA Annual Conference brought more than 1,100 travel professionals to Pittsburgh for several days of learning, networking and connecting with partners from across the student travel industry.

Our own Natalie Rice served on the conference committee and joined the Health & Safety education session as a panelist, while Leisha and Lisa caught up with suppliers, destination partners and friends from throughout the industry.

We loved getting to “host” everyone here in Pittsburgh—and came back to the office with new connections, fresh ideas and plenty of inspiration for the trips ahead!
