Travel Smart Tuesday: Passports and Cruises

Technically, you can cruise on many cruises without a passport. However, I will always recommend having one, and here's why:
-you don't have to guess if you have the right birth certificate, not all types of birth certificates are accepted for cruises
-if the ship leaves port and you're not on it, you're stuck in a foreign country with no way out

If the worst possible scenario happens and you are not in a US port, you will have an extremely difficult time getting back to the boat or back home.

Where to Wednesday: Juneau, Alaska

Alaska has one of the most unique landscapes in the US. This allows for many different types of excursions. The one I’m looking forward to the most on my upcoming trip is a helicopter ride to a glacier. Once there, I’ll have a guided walk on the glacier! How cool is that? Talk about once in a lifetime!

Travel Smart Tuesday: Facebook groups

One of the things I always do before travel is search for a Facebook group that correlates. Sometimes it's just a page run by the resort, but sometimes I hit the jackpot and have a whole group dedicated to just my own travel dates. This is especially popular with cruises.

These groups can be a wealth of information. And sometimes, you even end up meeting new friends.

For my upcoming Alaska cruise, I've been able to join two other private chats outside of Facebook. One for aurora borealis and another for animal spotting. Working with others to spot these things that can be elusive can be very helpful and make your cruise/vacation much better.

Where To Wednesday: Nevis🇰🇳

Two musts when visiting Nevis:
1. Nevis is the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. Greg from Nevis Sun Tours Inc does an incredible job of showcasing the island of Nevis and highlighting how it played a role in Alexander's life.
2. Try the Killer Bee cocktail from Sunshine's Beach Bar & Grill. Sip it slowly, and enjoy. Sunshine says, if you drink one you're stung, drink two and beware, drink three and it's a knockout!🐝The recipe is top secret, even the bartender doesn't know everything that's in it.🍹

Travel Smart Tuesday: Off resort excursions

Some destinations are incredibly safe when leaving your resort. For example, in Nevis we decided to try the Killer Bee cocktail at Sunshine's Beach Bar & Grill. We also got to experience our very first cricket game, in St Kitts. St. Kitts & Nevis Patriots Jamaica Kingsmen CPL T20

These new experiences make life so much richer. It's scary to venture off by yourself but we were welcomed with friendly banter everywhere we went. We had no idea where to purchase our cricket tickets, so we asked a local and were given directions.

This is when having an advisor matters. Would I recommend leaving your resort in every country? Absolutely not! Every place is different, and must be handled with a different set of expectations. But if you want to know the drinks to try and the places that are safe to go to, let me help you. It would be my pleasure.
