Keeping our Czech & Slovak Easter traditions alive right here in TEXAS! 🐣💦🇨🇿🇸🇰

Easter Monday always brings back the best memories — laughter, family, and a little bit of good old-fashioned fun! 😄

Chris was out in the yard with his Slovak korbáč 🏃‍♂️😂 chasing Edita — just like the old days! For anyone new to the tradition, that braided willow whip isn’t meant to hurt — it’s a symbol of health, youth, and good luck for the year ahead. And don’t forget… sometimes a splash of cold water comes with it too! 💦

Add in the beautifully decorated kraslice eggs 🥚🌷, lots of laughs, and time with family — and you’ve got a tradition that’s been passed down for generations, even all the way here in Texas. ❤️

It might seem a little wild to some folks 🤠, but for Texas Czechs and Slovaks, it’s all about heritage, fun, and keeping those roots strong.

What an incredible time in Tomball! 🇩🇪🎶

It was such an honor helping lead the parade alongside Gene Hackemack — what a great tradition and amazing crowd! 🙌

I’m truly grateful to have been part of the Tomball German Fest for over 20 years now… and proud to say the Chris Rybak Band is the longest continuously performing band at this festival! 🪗🎤

Huge THANK YOU to Grady and Sandra for starting this incredible event, and to Craig Bogner, Amy Mason, and all the amazing staff and volunteers who make it happen every year 👏❤️

Even Elvis Presley knew the accordion 🪗 was cool! 😎

Before the hip-shaking, chart-topping, rock-and-roll legend became the King… Elvis was just a kid soaking up all kinds of music — and yes, that included the accordion!

🎶 Growing up, Elvis was surrounded by gospel, country, and folk sounds — many of which featured instruments like the accordion. Back then, the accordion wasn’t just “cool”… it was EVERYWHERE. From front porches to dance halls, from church gatherings to family celebrations — it brought people together.

And here’s the thing…

The accordion isn’t just an instrument — it’s a whole vibe.

🔥 It can lead a polka that gets the whole room dancing
🔥 It can bring out deep emotion in a slow waltz
🔥 It can spice things up with Cajun, Tex-Mex, or even rock styles
🔥 And yes… it can absolutely steal the show

Even in Elvis’s era, musicians who could play multiple styles — like accordion players — were respected entertainers. They knew how to read a crowd, bring energy, and keep people smiling all night long.
