It's great to see the new Laurel Park mural on the Ecusta Trail. The work is by Paulina Guajardo, who also created the Hendersonville mural for Old Lab Mercantile (now home of The Art Place Gallery at 730 Locust Street). You can enjoy the new mural from the trail at the intersection with Daniel Drive. Looking forward to seeing more community art along the Ecusta Trail someday! If you get a chance, say thanks to Energy Mart Stores for funding the project to brighten up this wall space. (And while you're there, look around for the NEW historic marker recently erected by the Town of Laurel Park to commemorate the history of Davis Station on the same spot - just in time for the 100th anniversary of Laurel Park.)

One big news item in Henderson County, North Carolina is the pending opening of the first 5.7 miles of the Ecusta Trail rails-to-trail project. Slated for June and much anticipated! Local businesses have quickly realized the advantages of having a major linear park/greenway passing by their door, and none more than Lennox Station. Trailside Brewing Company and Ecusta Market and Cafe await you daily. Aside from food, drinks and fun, here is another item Lennox Station recently added to the new trail: a snazzy new bike repair station. :) Great idea - and just a tiny bit of all the great amenities trail users can expect soon. Kudos!

More than 7 months after Tropical Storm Helene struck Henderson County, North Carolina, recovery efforts are still ongoing - but huge progress has been made. Here's a good update from Henderson County, NC Government. The main thing for visitors to know: Henderson County is open for business, and we are seeing more and more visitors arriving. Great post-Helene news from the Town of Lake Lure. Although the lake itself remains closed and the highway (64/74/9) to Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and beyond is still closed - the businesses that make up the Town of Lake Lure and open and eager to see visitors return and contribute to the economic recovery. It's a still a beautiful place in the mountains!
