: The Ultimate Betrayal (Or: The Time Vikkie Left Me Behind!) 😜🚢✈️
Remember how I proudly bragged that I officially got Vikkie hooked on cruising back in 2018? Well, by January 2022, my creation had turned on me. She packed her bags for a girls' trip and left me sitting on land! 😭
To add insult to injury, she got on the Carnival Breeze out of Galveston—the exact ship, doing the exact same 5-night Progreso and Cozumel itinerary that we had just done together two months prior!
We wanted to give you a look at how this cruise went down from both sides of the story:
🗺️ The Land Perspective (David):
While Vikkie was heading to the Gulf, I was at home, working, and living in a state of terminal cruise envy. This was my first time being left behind, and let's just say... I didn't care for it. At all.
I became a certified internet stalker. I was tracking the Breeze’s live marine coordinates online so I could "virtually" cruise along, and I was glued to port webcams trying to catch a glimpse of the ship. 🖥️👀
I also noticed a massive drop-off in the photo updates I was getting. It turns out, when the resident food photographer is left in Missouri, the camera doesn’t get nearly as much exercise! 📸❌
🍹 The Sea Perspective (Vikkie):
While David was tracking satellite pings, Vikkie and her best friend were living their absolute best lives with Cruise Director Jonathan "Cookie" Adams keeping the party going.
Progreso: A fun day wandering the Malecón.
Cozumel: A mandatory return to Mr. Sanchos. Details are a little blurry, but she somehow made it back to the pier in one piece! 🍹🇲🇽
The Aftermath: Upon returning to the ship, Vikkie immediately ordered a bucket of beer delivered directly to the hot tub... and promptly passed out cold for the next few hours! 😂🛁🍻
The Moral of the Story: Vikkie had an absolute blast, and cruising with your best friends is an amazing experience. But this trip solidified one major thing for both of us: we definitely prefer traveling with each other. Cruising solo just isn't our style!
