The Good Friday Earthquake occurred on March 27, 1964. High tides on the Homer Spit were a bit more dramatic after subsequent land sinking... this photo, from the Homer Thompson collection, is just one of many documenting the flooding and destruction on the Spit.

Oct 17, 1931 Seldovia Herald: Jane Harrington editor and Perry Harrington; distribution manager; star reporters are Tommy Munson and Carl Anderson, while Bobby Waters preside over the joke department. The art department is presided over by Ted Anderson. Milo Kallman, one of the latest of the newcomers , is moving in to the John Seraphin cottage. Jack Harrington made a visit to Bear Cove last week, going as a gust of Mr and Mrs. Gardo Webb. Mr. Svedlund has returned from Ninilchik bringing with him a pair of fine young silver foxes. He got the animals from Walter Jackinsky, trading in a pair of older foxes that the new owner intends to pelt.

Amazing!

A massive solar flare recently treated much of Alaska to some of the best northern lights in years. Epic ribbons of light and pulsating displays danced all weekend long. And we have the video to prove it.
