The Hood River City invites the community to participate in a new online survey that will guide decisions on two potential bond measures for the November 2026 ballot, a Police Station Renovation Bond, and a Housing Bond.

City leaders will use the survey responses to better understand the community’s priorities and identify where additional public information is needed. The survey is available in both English and Spanish and takes just a few minutes to complete.

The Police Station Renovation Bond hopes to resolve ongoing facility deficiencies. The Hood River Police Department operates from generic office space in the basement of City Hall that was always intended to be temporary. The current facility lacks basic features needed for modern policing, including private interview areas, seismic stability, backup power, and appropriate security systems. Improvements will enhance emergency response, officer readiness, and support higher quality investigations.

The Housing Bond addresses the shortage of available housing in Hood River. Hood River faces one of the most severe housing affordability challenges in Oregon. A recent state housing analysis showed Hood River as the least affordable community in the state. Bond funding will help the City secure matching funds, build and preserve affordable homes, and create long‑term stable housing options for local workers, seniors, families, and essential community members such as EMTs, teachers, service industry staff, and caregivers.

Hood River, Ore. (May 22, 2026) - This is a reminder that the Hood River–White Salmon Interstate Bridge will be closed on May 28 and May 29, 2026, from 12:30 a.m. to 5:30 a.m. for bridge lift operations training.

This training is an important part of ensuring bridge staff are prepared to safely and efficiently operate the lift system for both marine and roadway traffic.

We understand closures can be inconvenient and appreciate the community’s patience as we complete this important safety training. Please plan ahead and use alternate routes during these times.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
