There are so many core and unforgettable memories I have at Walt Disney World that it’s practically impossible to narrow my favorite down to just one. Each means so much to me, but in their own unique way.

However, if I were to say which memories tell my own personal story the most, then it would start with the day I proposed to my wife, Mary, at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. Many people dream and wish for that “fairy tale ending”, but that moment was my FAIRY TALE BEGINNING. It was the moment my life-long dream of becoming a husband and a father started to come true.

That trip in 2016 ultimately led to following trips with our son, Greyson. We’ve now brought him to Walt Disney World 5 times so far since he was a 1-year old. Watching him grow up and experience the magic that helped mold me into the person I am now is a blessing I can never fully put into words.

Some of the best memories I’ve had with my family over the years include:

➡️ Bringing my wife on her first ever trip to Walt Disney World and her witnessing why they call it “The Most Magical Place on Earth”

➡️ Getting engaged on that same trip, with both of our families also being there with us

➡️ Bringing Greyson on his first ever trip, and experiencing WDW as a parent for the first time

➡️ Watching the Nighttime Spectacular shows with Greyson, especially “Harmonious” and “Happily Ever After”

➡️ Witnessing Greyson fall more and more in love with Walt Disney World with each visit

I am so grateful to have been able to experience these moments. They’re something I will always cherish. And I can’t wait for what other memories we will continue to share with each other in the future.

The Disney Magic is the original Disney cruise ship — and no, that doesn't mean it's old and rundown.

Built in 1998, this ship has had so many updates and refurbishments over the years that it still feels fresh and new. The bones are classic. The experience is current.

A few things that surprise first-timers:

↳ The size. In an era of mega ships, the Magic is small and intimate — and that's the magic of it. Easier to navigate, less overwhelming, and you actually learn your way around.

↳ It doesn't have the same wild tech and fancy bars as the newer ships, but it has its own charm and unique spaces that the bigger ships just can't replicate.

↳ This ship sails from Galveston, Texas — making it incredibly convenient for our Texas and Louisiana clients who don't want to fly to Florida to cruise.

↳ Summer 2026: The Disney Magic is debuting in Alaska with 7-night sailings from Vancouver. Skagway, Juneau, Ketchikan, and scenic cruising to Dawes Glacier.

↳ Fall and winter: San Diego and Galveston with sailings to Mexico, The Bahamas, and the Caribbean — including stops at Castaway Cay.

I sailed the Magic out of NYC years ago and watching the Statue of Liberty fade into the distance as we left port is still one of my favorite cruise memories.

One of our favorite family travel memories ever happened at Universal Studios Florida when we were unexpectedly chosen as Universal’s Family of the Day.

That morning, we officially opened the park during the opening ceremony, I had to give a speech in front of the crowd, the kids got to snap the movie-style action sign, and we received a complimentary photo plus Express Pass access for Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. It was one of those completely unexpected moments that turned into a core family memory. The kids still talk about it constantly.

What made this trip even more special was that it was the first time we stopped treating Universal like a quick 2-day add-on to a Disney vacation and actually planned a full Universal trip. Honestly, we realized we had been doing Universal wrong for years.

We stayed at Loews Royal Pacific Resort and absolutely loved how close it was to the parks. Because we had a full week and 5 days of park tickets, we never felt rushed. We could head back to the room for breaks, swim in the afternoons when the heat got intense, grab gelato, and return to the parks later feeling refreshed instead of exhausted.

That extra time completely changed the experience for us. Instead of trying to cram everything into two stressful days, we actually got to enjoy the parks, re-ride favorites, slow down, and make memories together. We loved this trip so much that we are already planning to repeat the entire thing again soon.

If you’ve only ever squeezed Universal into the end of another vacation, this is your sign to try doing Universal as the main event.

Ten years of marriage. Zero kids on this trip. 🥂

This couple wanted to celebrate their anniversary the right way — a 5-night Western Caribbean cruise on the Disney Fantasy with a verandah room, Castaway Cay, Cozumel, and dinner at Remy.
