She came to me after three weeks of research that left her more overwhelmed than when she started. Two kids under 8. A husband who'd never been to Walt Disney World and wasn't entirely sold on it. Five days and a budget she didn't want to waste. She told me she'd basically given up on planning it herself.

What she needed wasn't a longer blog post. It was someone to look at her specific family and tell her exactly what to do — and more importantly, what to skip.

We built the trip around her kids' ages, her husband's tolerance for crowds, and the things she refused to miss. Two planning calls. A rest day she almost cut. Lightning Lane strategy locked before they even packed.

Her husband — the one she wasn't sure would love it — was the one at the gate on day four asking what time the park opened.

She messaged me when they landed back in Houston. "I didn't think a trip like this was something we could actually pull off. I just didn't know what I didn't know."

That's the part no amount of Googling fixes.

If this is where you are — link in bio to schedule a call. Let's figure out what your family actually needs.

Epic Universe has been open for almost a year. I've been watching it closely and I've sent families. Here is what I actually think.

Isle of Berk is the best land Universal has ever built. Full stop. If your family has any relationship with dragons, it is worth the trip. Super Nintendo World delivers for families with younger kids. Those two lands alone make Epic Universe a legitimate destination.

Everything else is more nuanced. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is enjoyable and well-executed and its completely different than the other Wizarding World areas at Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios!

Crowds are not a myth. Expect them, plan for early entry in Ministry of Magic specifically, and build more time into your Universal days than you think you need. And understand going in that Epic Universe is a full separate day — it is not something you tack onto an existing Universal day and call it done. Most families planning Universal Orlando are now looking at three parks and a minimum of two full days to do it right.

Is it worth it? For the right family, absolutely. For every family, automatically — no.

Comment EPIC below. I'll ask you a few questions about your family and give you a straight answer on whether it belongs on your trip and how to structure it.

She came to me six months into planning her Walt Disney World trip. She had done everything right by every measure — restaurants picked, park order mapped out, packing list done. She sent me her itinerary proud of how much work she'd put in.

I had to tell her the itinerary was the problem.

Not because she'd made obvious mistakes. Because nobody had told her that doing everything right on paper doesn't account for what a real trip with real kids actually looks like. Park open to close, every day, with no margin built in isn't a thorough plan. It's an exhausting one.

We rebuilt the middle three days around her family instead of around a checklist. She came home and told me the unscheduled pool day her kids had begged for — the one she almost didn't agree to — was the one they needed the most.

Research can tell you what exists at Walt Disney World. It cannot tell you what your family needs from this trip. That's the part I handle.

If you have a plan you're not sure about, or 47 tabs open and no idea where to start — send me a DM. That's exactly what I'm here for.

Every Disney Cruise Line ship gets five-star reviews. Every sailing gets called life-changing. And every time I ask a family which ship they're considering, they tell me they've read everything and still have no idea which one to book.

That's not a research problem. That's a fit problem.

I've sailed every ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet. My honest take is that the ship itself is rarely what makes or breaks a trip — but booking the wrong one for where your family is right now absolutely can be.

First-timers with younger kids almost always go on the Dream or the Fantasy. Families who've already fallen in love with DCL and are ready for something that rewards repeat sailors go on the Wish, the Treasure, or the Destiny. Families who want something genuinely different — smaller, more personal, itineraries the bigger ships can't touch — go on the Magic or the Wonder.

The ship I recommend has nothing to do with which one launched most recently. It has everything to do with who you are as a traveling family and what you actually need from this particular trip.

Comment CRUISE below and I'll send you my personal breakdown — including which ship I'd put your family on and why.

The number one Walt Disney World planning mistake I see has nothing to do with park order, rope drop timing, or whether you locked in dining reservations 60 days out.

It's pace.

Families build meticulous itineraries — park open to close, every single day — and wonder why everyone is falling apart by day three. Walt Disney World is not hard to navigate. It's hard to pace. No amount of research fully prepares you for what Florida heat, 20,000 steps a day, and a five-year-old who missed her nap actually does to a vacation in real time.

The trips that fall apart aren't usually the ones with bad planning. They're the ones with no margin built in.

Ten years of sending families to Walt Disney World has taught me that the ones who come home raving aren't the ones who did the most. They're the ones who were present for what they did.

Comment MAGIC below and I'll send you the first-day strategy I give every client before they leave. It's the thing I wish every family knew before they walked through those gates.

What my Google search history looked like this week:

"Virgin Voyages Athens port transfer time"

"Can you bring cheese through customs"

"Disneyland rope drop strategy March 2026"

"How to explain Lightning Lane Multi Pass to someone who last went to Disney in 2015"

"Is Yoshi's Adventure worth 45 minute wait" (it's not)

"Best family restaurant Saint-Germain Paris not touristy"

"Do border collies understand work-from-home boundaries" (they don't)

"Universal Express Pass Memorial Day sold out alternatives"

This is what planning 30+ trips at once looks like. Random. Specific. Sometimes dog-related.

Your trip gets my full brain power even when my search history looks like organized chaos.

I made this reel as a joke and then started counting and... it's not a joke. running marathons, traveling the world, making bread, doing crafts, collecting plants, in my wine era, and navigating perimenopause — all simultaneously. I am thriving. I am a mess. I am both.

Things I've noticed about families who come back to me year after year:

They trust the process. They don't second-guess every recommendation based on what they read in a Facebook group.

They communicate openly. They tell me when something matters to them and when they don't care.

They actually use the itinerary I create instead of trying to cram in three more things they found on TikTok the night before.

They come back because the first trip was easy. Not perfect - easy. They showed up, followed the plan, and actually enjoyed their family.

And here's the pattern: their kids remember these trips. Years later. The families who've worked with me for 5+ years have teenagers who still talk about "that time in Paris" or "remember the cruise when..."

That's the relationship I'm building with families. Not one trip. A decade of trips.

If you're looking for someone to plan one vacation, I can do that. But the families who get the most value from me? They're the ones who keep coming back.
