* Had a brief stay at their country home in Sæle, Norway, a small community North of Bergen.
* Went on adventurous Fjord tour (train, bus & boat).
* Rode the funicular high above the city, and had wonderful lunch at the top.
* Explored city of Bergen.
* Thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Mette & family’s home in Godvik.

Sydney Harbour Australia Bridge Climb

These photos may need little explanation for this iconic sight. Here are some hints to describe the day.

We had a magnificent day with a Sydney Australia city tour for entire group of about 130 people on 3 tour buses.

Next up was the “Fearless Five” that eagerly walked (and climbed and walked) to view the Sydney Harbour, Sydney Bridge, Sydney Opera House, and the surrounding area. It was an awesome, magnificent, and an amazing accomplishment to climb stairs, walk along catwalks, squeeze through narrow areas, steep stairs, as well as ramps. We did it all until we reached the flags at the top!!

Enjoy the photos taken by (and purchased from) the Bridge Climb staff during the climb. We were not allowed to carry any personal item, and the cap given to us was attached to the jumpsuit, could wear own sunglasses, and they were attached also.

The entire learning experience was educational and a challenge accomplished. Many others from TSC went at a different time, but the “Fearless Five” were the only ones from SCSC.

Cairns Australia and the Great Barrier Reef

Group of about 90 TSC (Texas Ski Council - 11 were SCSC-Space City Ski & Adventure Club) ventured out of Cairns Marina on a huge catamaran into the Corel Sea, and the Great Barrier Reef. This has been a dive location I always dreamed to dive or to visit, one of the ultimate locations. When an announcement said, sign up for an introductory scuba course and dive today. I DID IT!
I took an Introductory course, since I am not a current certified diver. Friends that don’t know me, over the years, I was an advanced diver, with over 150 dives in about 12 years. I have not scuba dived in 21 years, but on 10/1/23 I did. As far as I know, I was the only one that dive from TSC. There were many on the boat that were not TSC.
The dive was amazing! The sea creatures (of all sorts) were plentiful and colorful. The first 30 min I will always remember. It was magical. The highlight was when the dive was complete, only 2 in my group at the end of the day (time was assigned for the dive), and the guy in my group was low on air. Tanya, the dive master, asked me if I wanted to go back in the water to dive again? I sill had 1100 psi, which is about 1/2 what I started with. The next 20 min I only went down to 700psi, but we dove closer to the boat and shallower. Bottom time 50 min. Amazing! I was in awe of all God’s sea creatures.

Included in posting are a few of activities on our “Great Barrier Reef Pontoon-At-Sea.” I really want to post more photos but it is a toss up of having fun, FB posting, or sleep. Every day is FULL of activities and dinners out.
Thank you to our house sitters, taking care of all items in our home, including power loss, breakers tripped, and cleaning the refrigerator leak!

Hobart Tasmania Australia
Look ma, where we are! Out of curiosity, more than a possibility, this post is the relationship of Hobart to Antarctica. We know it is just beyond eyesight range. 🤔🤭🤣😀
Looking South we could (almost) see Antarctica! 😜 I wanted to board a ship, and visit Antarctica; Tom said “no!”
It is about 1300 nautical mi from Hobart to the George V Coast of Antarctica. See screenshots with larger globe photo and details of miles to Antarctica from google search. It is closer to travel by ship from South America. We know friends that have done so. Not on our travel plans horizon (at least as of now 🤔).
I learned from an Aussie passenger on the plane about the different countries that have bases on Antarctica.

Tom and Ellen’s Great Adventures DOWN UNDER began with flying (and layovers) for 28 hrs.
9/14 Thurs - Flew United Airlines Houston 5pm to LA, CA, with a few hours layover. Left LA at 11pm

9/16 Sat - Skipped a day as we time travelled. 😀
7am (4pm CDT Fri) Arrived in Sydney Australia, passed through customs, many electronic machines in the process, less people interaction for the process. 85° temp, blue skies. Not ready to see Sydney…. yet. G’Day friends!

A few hours in Sydney then we flew via Virgin Australia to Hobart Tasmania Australia, arrived at 12pm (9pm CDT Fri) (15 hrs ahead).

Hobart is farthest South in Australia, except for a few smaller communities in Tasmania. Cloudy coverage, 59° chilly weather, and raining when we arrived. We were greeted in the airport gift shop with all the cute stuffed animals of Australia. I wanted to buy 1 of each, but instead hugged a Tasmanian Devil.

We rented a car-1st time Tom drove on left side of road. Then we were off to explore Tasmania!

Days 1-2 9/14-16 Thurs & Sat (time travel forward past 9/15 🤭 )

We are at the Houston airport. 4:45pm Flight leaves 9/14 Thurs. 6:20pm arrives in LA, then we have 4.5 hrs layover. 10:...

Space Needle in Seattle Washington
Never gets old to ride the elevator to the top. Took my daughters 7/2005, Tom & I went to Seattle 8/2016. When did you ride to the top of the Space Needle? Pam said it had been a long time since she last ride elector to the top.

The top is 605’, open-air Observation floor is 520’. It was amazing. Beautiful blue skies. Pam says we were sure lucky! At 500’ a clear floor is dedicated to rotating 360°, the prior restaurant floor. Would you stand on the clear floor looking down, as it is moving?

The Space Needle was built in 1962 for the World’s Fair.

If I could only go one place in Seattle, this is it! We saw the entire city, its bays and lakes with beautiful views!

Pam Sensney (my 3rd cousin) traveling with us 6 days. She has lived in Seattle and was our tour guide in Seattle for 3 days.
