The animal ambassadors that live at our location are some of the most storied, legendary, and unfortunately endangered animals on the planet. It is our mission to further educate the public on these vital keystone species and the impact they have on the human world. In addition to crocodiles many other animal species call Crocodile Encounter home. Our facility is home to numerous species of snakes, lizards, and turtles and a representative faction of mammals.

Ruby may be the most gentle Nile crocodile on the planet! Folks the weather through New Year's day may literally be some of the best croc watching weather in our history. Just absolutely fantastic. What is Crocodile Encounter? Crocodile Encounter is a fully licensed and insured USDA zoological facility whose primary focus is science and wildlife education. Started by a science teacher and his students Crocodile Encounter has grown into a world class animal facility that has a truly unique origin. Originally designed as a mobile science lesson Crocodile Encounter evolved through the years to become an immersive wildlife experience that features not only the nation’s largest group of crocodiles but also many other species from beautiful Bongo antelope to giant tortoises. A visit to Houston's country zoo enables each visitor to experience wildlife in a safe, exciting, and educational fashion. You will see and learn about crocodiles and alligators while being led by our knowledgeable and lively tour guides. We are the premier crocodilian facility in the state of Texas and widely regarded in the zoological world as a standard bearer in the care of captive crocodilians. The animal ambassadors that live at our location are some of the most storied, legendary, and unfortunately endangered animals on the planet. Crocodile Encounter is home to the rare and diminutive Chinese alligator as well as the titanic and critically endangered Orinoco crocodile. Our mission is to further and continuously provide a venue to educate the public on these vital keystone species and the impact they have on the human world. Our goal is to continue strengthening our mission, to lead and inspire every generation by connecting people and wildlife.
