We visited Kotor, Montenegro today, and what an incredible journey it was! 🇲🇪
With nearly 2,000 years of history, Kotor had stories around every corner—from its ancient Roman beginnings and medieval struggles involving Goths, Saracens and Serbians to its fascinating Venetian past. It was easy to see why this remarkable city earned its place on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
We explored the beautifully preserved Old Town on a guided walking tour, wandering through its maze of narrow streets and charming squares. We saw the Prince’s Palace, Napoleon’s Theatre and, of course, the magnificent Romanesque Cathedral of Saint Tryphon.
One of the highlights was seeing Kotor’s impressive medieval fortifications. The massive stone walls surrounding the Old Town reached incredible heights and thicknesses, making us appreciate just how well this historic city had preserved its past.
We also visited the Cathedral and the Maritime Museum, learning even more about Kotor’s rich maritime heritage.
Then we took the cable car up the mountain, and the views from the top were absolutely fantastic! ⛰️😍 We took in the spectacular scenery of Kotor and the bay while enjoying pizza and cocktails—a pretty perfect way to take a break and soak it all in. 🍕🍹
Kotor was truly a place where history, incredible scenery and great food and drinks came together. We loved every moment of discovering this beautiful corner of Montenegro! ❤️🇲🇪
