The best trips I've planned for clients all started the same way - with one conversation that happened earlier than it felt necessary.

Not with a destination already locked in. Not with a resort picked from a list. Just a conversation about what the trip actually needed to be - the pace, the experience, the feeling they wanted to come home with.

From there, everything else falls into place. The right destination becomes clear. The property that fits follows naturally. And by the time the details are confirmed, the trip already feels like it's going to be exactly what it should.

That's the part most people never see. The thinking that happens before any booking takes place.

May has been a remarkable month for me professionally - Costa Rica, Nevis, and a week in San Diego investing in my craft. Every trip, every property evaluation, every conversation at the conference this week adds to what I'm able to offer the next time a client sits down with me.

If a trip has been on your mind - Hawaii for the holidays, French Polynesia, the Caribbean, anything on your list - I'd love to start that conversation. Even if it doesn't feel urgent yet.

Especially then, actually.

Read this before you book Hawaii for Christmas or New Year's.

Hawaii during the holidays is everything you're imagining - warm weather, festive atmosphere, and the kind of unhurried pace that December rarely offers anywhere else. But it's also one of the most competitive booking windows in luxury travel, and the mistakes people make are almost always the same.

They wait too long. By the time the holidays feel close enough to act on, the room categories worth having are gone. The preferred resort locations are committed. The flight connections that make a long trip feel seamless have been picked over.

What's left is whatever nobody else wanted - and that's not how a holiday trip should feel.

Here's what I tell every client who wants Hawaii for the holidays: the conversation needs to happen in spring. Not because the process is complicated, but because the inventory that makes these trips extraordinary doesn't wait for the calendar to catch up.

I specialize in Hawaii travel, and I work with clients to make sure the right room, the right property, and the right timing are secured well before the window closes.

If Christmas or New Year's in Hawaii is on your list for 2026, now is the moment. I'd love to help you get it right.

If you've been to CancΓΊn, you think you know what a Riviera Maya resort looks like. Wristbands. Buffet lines. Hundreds of rooms. Organized entertainment on a schedule you didn't ask for.

PalmaΓ―a is not that.

It's 400 acres of virgin jungle meeting one of the most beautiful stretches of beach on the coast. It's plant-forward food that is genuinely extraordinary - not spa food, not deprivation, but creative and hearty and surprising. It's wellness programming you can engage with as much or as little as you want, with zero pressure either way. And it's all-inclusive in a way that actually means something - every restaurant, every activity, every crafted mocktail, from the moment you arrive.

I've been. I know the difference. That's why I chose it.

The Suitcases & Savoir Faire Society heads there July 17–20. A few spots remain.

There are fewer than ten Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties in the world. Nekajui, nestled on the Papagayo Peninsula in Costa Rica, is one of them.

I didn’t stay at Nekajui - I visited as part of a professional property evaluation during a recent Costa Rica FAM trip. But you don’t need to spend a night somewhere to understand what it is and who it’s built for. Sometimes an hour on property tells you everything.

Here’s what this place is:

Nekajui earned two Michelin Keys in 2025 - a recognition that signals not just luxury but a genuine commitment to exceptional hospitality at every level. It has also been recognized by both CondΓ© Nast Traveler and Travel + Leisure, two of the most respected voices in luxury travel.

The Ritz-Carlton Reserve tier exists above the standard luxury resort conversation. Fewer guests. Deeper personalization. A level of attention and intentionality that most properties simply can’t attempt at scale. Every element of the guest experience is designed to feel singular - not polished and efficient, but genuinely tailored.

The setting on the Papagayo Peninsula adds another layer. The landscape here is dramatic - Pacific coastline, dry tropical forest, and a privacy that feels earned rather than manufactured.

This is not a property for every traveler. It’s for the one who has done luxury well and is ready for something that operates at a different level entirely.

If that traveler is you or someone you know, I’d love to have that conversation.

Christmas or New Year's in Hawaii?

Both are extraordinary. And I get asked to compare them regularly.

Here's the honest answer - Christmas week and New Year's week in Hawaii attract different travelers for different reasons, and the right choice depends entirely on who you are and how you travel.

Christmas week tends to be family-focused. Multi-generational groups, longer stays, a pace that builds around the holiday itself. The resorts lean into the season, and the atmosphere is warm and festive. It's also the most competitive booking window of the year - the best room categories at the best properties go early and don't come back.

New Year's is more couples and small groups. The energy picks up as December 31 approaches and the celebration experience varies significantly by property. Some resorts do New Year's Eve extraordinarily well. Others treat it as an afterthought. Knowing which is which before you book is the difference between a memorable experience and a disappointing one.

For families with school-age children, Christmas week usually makes more logistical sense. For couples who want energy and celebration, New Year's at the right property can be the more memorable experience.

Either way - this is one of the most competitive booking windows of the year, and the planning conversation needs to happen now.

I'd love to help you figure out which week is right for you.

So what does four days at PalmaΓ―a actually look like?

Friday, July 17: You arrive between 4 and 5pm, check in, and let the place do what it does. No agenda for the first evening. Just get there and breathe.

Saturday, July 18: Your first full day. Morning wellness if you want it - yoga, breathwork, sound healing, or a walk through the jungle to the beach. Lunch somewhere beautiful. Afternoon at leisure. Dinner that surprises you.

Sunday, July 19: The day you settle in completely. The one where you stop checking your phone and start actually being somewhere. Another extraordinary meal. An evening that nobody wants to end.

Monday, July 20: A slow breakfast by the water, then a leisurely morning before heading to the airport for your early afternoon flight. One last look at the sea - and the quiet realization that this is exactly what a long weekend is supposed to feel like.

Four days. All-inclusive. Riviera Maya. Friday to Monday.

There's nothing better than knowing your trip is already locked in while the rest of the world is still scrolling reviews at midnight.

We've all been there - seventeen tabs open, conflicting opinions on every resort, and somehow less certain than when you started. The research rabbit hole is real, and it rarely leads anywhere satisfying.

My clients don't have to do that. By the time most people are still deciding, their room is confirmed, their itinerary is solid, and the only thing left to do is pack.

That's not luck. That's what happens when you start the conversation early with someone who already knows the answers.

If a trip is on your radar for later this year, let's get it locked in.
