After Tunisia and Zanzibar, we made our way to Bloemfontein, South Africa for Glen's 40th high school reunion.

Walking back onto those school grounds for the first time in four decades was emotional, memories, friendships, and moments that came rushing back all at once.

What a homecoming. 🇿🇦

Leg three of our trip isn’t exactly off to a smooth start….

After Tunisia and Zanzibar, we were heading to South Africa — boarded our flight in Zanzibar, pushed back, and then told to get off because Nairobi airport was shut down. (Turns out the former Prime Minister had passed away, and thousands of mourners rushed the airport when his body arrived).

A few hours later we finally made it to Nairobi, missed our connection, and now it looks like we’ll land in Johannesburg around 1 AM — with no flights to our final destination at that time of night.

The joys (and chaos) of travel. ✈️

Took a walk through Stone Town, from the old cannons on the waterfront to the centuries-old fort, through winding alleys that lead to the haunting slave market and the lively fish and vegetable stalls. A walk through this town feels like stepping through layers of history — Arab, African, and Indian Ocean worlds all meeting in one place. 🌍🇹🇿
