A trip on the off of near

Gage was approximately 14 ft ( using the gage at HWY 290 ). The river has been inundated with water for approximately half the year due to the heavy rains. It has only recently dropped to 14 ft and below. I use the gage off of 290 because it's a decent predictor of conditions at least for the next 100 miles of the Brazos river.

I took my out, it's new and I'm trying different paddles and different techniques.

Put in to the Brazos River starting at Highway 290 and paddled north 3.5 miles and paddled back. I apologize if you hear me mumbling ( I'm listening to a po...

Paddled from Beason's Crossing Park down to 90 ( Altair Boat Ramp ) This is part 1 of 2.

The distance is approximately 20 miles and it's a beautiful stretch of river. The weather was 85 and it drizzled on us periodically; I was joined by new friends who are part of the Houston Canoe Club.

The gage at the put in ( 08161000 ) was at 10.24 ft and 678 CFS at roughly 10:00 AM Saturday July 5th.

I paddled with several new friends and wonderful people. Approximately half of the video I'm following Michele and Bruce, the remaining half I fall back and...

Sometimes the weather changes in ways you can't predict while on the water. A light morning shower turned into hours of heavy rain while I was paddling at Stubblefield Recreation area.

Rain, especially while you're on the water, is extremely beautiful. However, you have to consider your safety and the safety of others who may be paddling with you. This was an extremely localized weather pattern, rather than one that's been extensively raining north of this location, and the chances of the water level rising quickly were low. That is not to say that kind of thing can't happen at Stubblefield, it can and does.

This is a series of forking waterways making up the West Fork San Jacinto River, right at the northern most tip of Lake Conroe. The area is quite beautiful ...

Visited Joe Matthews Park ( Mont Belvieu, Texas ).and paddled on Old River ( one of many forks ).

The nearest gage ( 08067215, Old RV Cutoff ) was at 7.4 ft , but I'm not sure if it's a good indicator of the conditions at this location because it's a short distance away.

The paddle trail on the sign goes down to 1409, which is approximately 2 miles. However, we went up the river until we had to turn around and return ( screenshot attached ). The paddle was quite enjoyable and the beginner friendly. The Park is still under construction, but it has restrooms and parking and a kayak boat launch. There is no boat ramp big enough for larger boats, but canoes will fit in the kayak launch.
