Our next stop aboard Windstar’s Wind Surf was Reggio di Calabria, and although it was one of the shortest port calls during our voyage, it offered a wonderful glimpse into the character of this vibrant coastal city.

We enjoyed walking around and taking in the atmosphere, admiring the art, and exploring Parco Archeologico Mura Greche Orientali, which added a fascinating historic layer to the visit. One of the highlights was stopping at the bergamot museum, where we got to learn more about one of the region’s most iconic ingredients. Of course, no visit would have been complete without trying a bergamot spritz, a perfectly local and refreshing way to experience the destination.

Even a brief stop can leave a lasting impression when the destination is this rich in culture, history, and flavor. Reggio di Calabria was a reminder that some of the best travel moments come from simply slowing down and soaking it all in.

A day in Amalfi with Windstar was the perfect mix of beauty, adventure, and a little bit of a workout. We tendered ashore from Wind Surf and headed up, and up, and up through the hills in the hot sun until we reached Ravello, then continued on to Pontone and Torre dello Ziro. The views along the way were incredible, and every step was worth it for the charm, history, and scenery waiting at the top.
This is one of those days that reminds you why small ship cruising is so special. You get the chance to step right into unforgettable destinations, explore them at your own pace, and experience places like Amalfi in a way that feels both intimate and memorable. Yes, it was many, many steps. Yes, it was warm. And yes, I would do it again.

One of the most memorable stops on our cruise was Viet Hai Village on Cat Ba Island, where we cycled through peaceful village roads and ended the visit with a fish spa experience. It was such a fun mix of nature, local culture, and a little unexpected adventure!
