Delays happen… but a little strategy can make them far less stressful.
A few quick tips:
• Check the airline app first – Often you can rebook faster there than waiting in line.
• Get in line and get on the phone – Whichever gets help first wins.
• Know your rights – Weather delays vs. mechanical delays can mean different compensation options.
• Keep essentials in your carry-on – medications, chargers, and a change of clothes can be lifesavers.
• Stay calm and kind – Gate agents are your best allies when things go wrong.
Travel rarely goes exactly as planned… but knowing what to do can turn a stressful delay into just a small bump in the journey.

This weekend I’m in Washington, DC with 2 of my kids doing one of our favorite kinds of travel… travel for the stories.

Today we visited the US Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.

Books and classrooms teach facts.
Travel brings the stories to life.

When kids stand where history happened, they remember it differently. They ask better questions. They connect the past to the world they live in today.

As a travel advisor, this is something I always encourage families to think about. Travel isn’t just about checking destinations off a list, it’s about experiencing the stories, culture, and history that shape a place.

This weekend, my kids are learning that firsthand here in Washington, D.C.. 🇺🇸

Congressman Brad Knott (NC-13) will host a Passport Fair in Clayton on Wednesday, March 25, at Clayton Town Hall from 10AM-4PM. Held in partnership with the U.S. Department of State, the event will assist NC-13 constituents with applying for new passports or renewing existing ones.

A Passport Fair is a community event where residents can complete the passport application process with on-site assistance. Attendees can also chat with staff and get their passport questions answered.

By bringing these services directly to the district, the event provides a convenient and accessible option for constituents.

To participate, attendees must bring:
• An unsigned passport application form

• Proof of citizenship and one photocopy
• Proof of identification and one photocopy
• One passport photo
• A check or money order made payable to the U.S. Department of State

The event will take place in the York Room at Clayton Town Hall, 111 E. Second St. from 10AM-4PM. Appointments can be scheduled online at bit.ly/2026nc13passports.
