I want to tell you about something that happened this week.

A mom I work with, let's call her Sarah, sent me a text from her resort.

She said: "I'm sitting by the pool. My kids are at the kids' club. My husband is napping. I have a drink. I haven't planned a single thing today. I forgot what this feels like."

And honestly? I almost cried reading it. 😭

Because THAT is why I do this.

Not for the commission. Not for the perks (though the fam trips are nice, I won't lie 😂). But for THAT text.

For the mom who finally stopped carrying the mental load. For the family that's making memories instead of managing logistics. For the woman who remembered what it feels like to just… BE.

Teacher-mom truth: sometimes the vacation meltdown isn't about the vacation. 😅

After 18 years in the classroom, I learned that when little ones start falling apart, it's worth checking the basics first:

🍎 Are they hungry?
😴 Are they exhausted?
🗓️ Do they know what's happening next?

New places, busy schedules, late dinners, skipped naps, and constant transitions can be a LOT for little people.

And while you can't prevent every meltdown (because kids are kids, and vacation isn't a magical exception 😂), a little preparation can make a big difference.

My three non-negotiables for family travel:
✔️ Snacks within reach
✔️ Downtime built into the day
✔️ A quick preview of what's coming next

Because the goal isn't a perfect vacation. It's a vacation where everyone gets to enjoy the memories, too. ❤️

"It's called recovery, Dave. Emotional recovery." 😌

Listen, family vacations should NOT require a recovery period. But they do when:
😩 You planned every meal
😩 You coordinated every transfer
😩 You packed 14 bags
😩 You were the human GPS the entire time

My husband asked me the other day, "Don't you get tired of planning other people's trips?"

And I laughed. 😂

Because here's the thing, I don't experience it the way you do.

When YOU plan a trip, it's:
❌ The pressure of getting it RIGHT
❌ The guilt if something goes wrong
❌ The endless tabs and reviews and opinions
❌ The "am I spending too much?" anxiety
❌ The "what if the kids hate it?" fear

When I plan a trip for YOUR family, it's:
✅ A puzzle I genuinely enjoy solving
✅ A chance to use my teacher brain for something fun
✅ Access to deals and perks you literally can't get on your own
✅ The satisfaction of seeing a family come home with the BEST stories

I'm not burnt out on travel planning. I'm burnt out on seeing moms burn themselves out on it.

So here's my not-at-all subtle invitation:

JUST BOOKED: A FAMILY HOLIDAY GETAWAY TO CANCÚN! 🌴☀️

A wonderful family reached out with a goal that I think so many parents can relate to…

They wanted to escape the cold, spend New Year’s somewhere warm, and enjoy an all-inclusive vacation where they could relax and spend time together. ❤️

With one child in college and another in their junior year of high school, they knew how quickly these seasons of life pass. Between school, schedules, responsibilities, and everything else life throws at us, finding time to truly be together can be hard.

So they decided it was time to make it happen. ✈️

Now, they have an all-inclusive getaway to Cancún on the calendar, with sunshine, pool days, delicious food, and, most importantly, time together as a family.

Because here's the thing…

Sometimes the best reason to take a vacation isn't to see a new place. It's to spend time with the people you love before life gets even busier. 💕

The kids won't always be home for the holidays. The schedules won't always line up. And you never know which family traditions will become the memories everyone talks about years from now.

This New Year’s, they'll be trading the usual routine for warm sunshine and the chance to make more of those memories together. 🌊🥂

And honestly? That's one of my favorite parts of what I do as a travel advisor. I'm not just helping families book a resort. I'm helping them turn *“We should really take a trip together”* into something they can actually look forward to.
