✨ Walt Wednesday ✨
Did you know Disneyland’s Matterhorn Bobsleds didn’t just make Disney history, it changed roller coasters (and spines 😂) forever?
When the attraction debuted during the Second Opening of Disneyland in 1959, nearly a month shy of the park’s 4th birthday, it became the world’s first tubular-steel roller coaster. Its groundbreaking track and electronic dispatch system helped establish the standard for the modern roller coasters we ride today!
Even more fascinating? Walt Disney was inspired to create the attraction after falling in love with the real Matterhorn while filming Third Man on the Mountain in Switzerland. 🏔️
So, the next time you board your bobsled, remember: you aren’t just riding a Disneyland classic—you’re riding a piece of theme-park history (and getting a free adjustment)!
Have you braved the Matterhorn Bobsleds?
