Women will make responsible birth choices if providers take the time to explain pros and cons. If a procedure is a matter of life or death most mothers will agree regardless of birth plan...but when it's a matter of preference, the mother's preference should take precident over that of anyone else in the room!

Welcome to all the new people!

I had such a great visit yesterday with a client and the Midwives at Magee. It's so refreshing to have a client question a prenatal procedure, get a full explaination of pros and cons, be given options for different ways to complete the procedure IF SHE CHOSE, and be respected regardless of her choice.

Maybe it is because midwives have a different care model...or maybe because her doula was there and the midwife knew she couldn't bully this momma with a witness present 👭! Who knows...but I adore having mommas treated with respect.

After all, most moms do want a healthy baby and healthy mom...but they also want to be respected, given options, heard and treated with dignity! Having a doula increases your chances of walking out of your birth feeling good even if there were deviations from your birth vision!

My #1 concern as a doula is making sure you have access to the information you want and are supported in your decisions. I'm not here to push an agenda on you....I'm here to lift you up and make sure your choices are respected. 👭💙🍎🍊🍧
