Even if your cruise line does not mandate a passport, we strongly advise possessing one for all international cruises. Not only does it facilitate embarkation and debarkation, but it can be instrumental in emergency situations, such as health or family crises, that necessitate prompt return to the United States. In the absence of a passport, obtaining an emergency passport from a U.S. embassy or consulate would be necessary to fly back home. It is prudent to pack your passport as a precautionary measure.
