On Jekyll Time - Ocean Oaks 28

Such an exciting morning on the beach today! Scroll through to see! I walked out to the beach and saw one of the turtle research ATVs, a small crowd, and giant tracks to and from the ocean! At 6 a.m., a huge turtle made a nest on our beach. The turtle research team let us watch as they removed a single egg of the approximately 100 eggs for tracking purposes. They answered all of our questions and were so friendly and informative! The GA Sea Turtle Center here on Jekyll Island does an amazing job locating and protecting nests, tracking turtles for conservation purposes, healing injured turtles and releasing them back to the ocean, education, and kids summer camps and more! Come visit!

While these Roseate Spoonbills are in Louisiana, Roseate Spoonbills have recently returned to Jekyll Island as well! They are one of my favorite birds there, and I get so excited every time I see one!

Not a dream... Just like heaven! We just got home from a few warm and beautiful days in the Golden Isles! I'll share some of our favorite things and places soon, but this beautiful beach is what I always miss the most!

Driftwood Beach on Jekyll Island was recently named the No. 3 Beach in the US and the No. 12 Beach in the world in the 2023 Trip Advisor's Best of the Best Beaches Awards! Driftwood is truly unique and beautiful, but it's just one of many beautiful beaches to visit in Jekyll!
Glory Beach was the setting of the 1989 film "Glory," starring Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, and Matthew Broderick. It's wide beaches are still a glorious setting!
St. Andrew's Beach on the South end of the island is the perfect place to catch the sunset and views of nearby Cumberland Island
Shark Tooth Beach is a great place to look for fossilized shark teeth!
There are many more gorgeous beaches, but our favorite one is the one just steps from our cottage in Ocean Oaks! (See pictures in post! 🌞🏖🌊)

A year ago, J. and I found the most adorable cottage in the most beautiful oceanfront community in Jekyll Island, GA! We have spent the past year adding special touches to the house and ways to make it the perfect vacation rental for fun and relaxation!
