As summer is upon us, it’s time to take a walk outdoors, enjoy nature, and learn something new. Waikīkī is getting busy with summer travel which means there are more opportunities to share some history of Hawai’i and culture of our people.

Spend 3 hours strolling through Kap’iolani Park, stopping along the way to sit at picnic tables in the shade casted by a wide range of trees. Moving from Kaimana Beach and ending in front of the Honolulu Zoo, our Kapi’olani Park tour is perfect for both residents and visitors alike, from Keiki to kūpuna.

We provide a 50% kama’āina rate for Hawai’i residence because we believe it’s most important for people who call Hawai’i home to know its history and culture.

We offer our Kapi’olani Park Walking Tour every Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 11am-2pm.

Despite the 3-hour duration, this tour has a route distance of less than 1 mile. With many stops at shaded picnic tables along the way, it’s not a hard or challenging walk whatsoever.
———
This route is kind to kūpuna who needs a cane or walker. For kūpuna in a wheelchair, the park terrain may be a little challenging to push through. Therefore, we recommend any kūpuna on a wheelchair also have someone to push them.
———
More Waikīkī routes will soon be opening, which will then change our route schedules a bit. So, if you participating in our Kapi’olani Park route already, a new route is coming!

Over the past few weeks, Kaimana Beach (aka San Souci) shoreline has been blocked off because members of our monk seal ‘ohana are present.

In Hawaiian language, the Hawaiian monk seals are called ‘īlio-holo-i-ka-uaua (“dog that runs in rough water”) and they are endemic to the Hawaiian archipelago, found no where else in the world.
———
Hawaiian monk seals are protected under the Endangered Species Act, the Marine Mammal Protection Act, and State of Hawai’i law.
———
We encourage our visitors to be fully aware of our native animals, mammals, and even plants. This was their home before it became ours so they deserve the upmost respect and Aloha from us all!

Our Kapi’olani Park Walking Tour is a 3-hour tour, however the route is no longer than 1 mile. Along the path, we make multiple stops in shaded areas with open picnic tables and talk story.

At each stop, we spend time looking at archival images and artwork that help each guest to “step into history.” It really becomes more relatable when one gets to see the change from what we see “now” to what we would have seen “then.”
———
For locals and residence, these are stories we should know and be aware of since this is our home.
———
For visitors, these are stories we would like you to go home with and share with your family and friends.
———
With anyone being able to create a tour company in Hawai’i, we feel it’s our kuleana as a Native Hawaiian owned and operated company to contribute to bringing balance to our tourism industry.

For local people, Waikīkī is a place many of us try to avoid. Why? Because it’s been overrun with tourism. But should we be avoiding our home?

It’s sad that many residents don’t want to go to Waikīkī because Waikīkī was called home by many of our Hawaiian monarchs and ancient chiefs. That means so much history remains in Waikīkī.

Our goal with is to share credible, historical stories about this very special place. For locals, these stories will only build your love and appreciation for Waikīkī. We feel the more appreciation one has for this place, the more we will take the responsibility to care for it.

We were so honored to give a tour for , an organization and canoe club that was born in Waikīkī. It’s very humbling to have shared new information to those who grew up in old Waikīkī.

Aside from our offer individuals offer, we also offer group tours. We do not usually do tours on the weekend as the experience would not be as quiet and peaceful, but it was a great Sunday spent throughout Kapi’olani Park.
