One of my favorite things about Kerrville is the people who take the time to create opportunities for others.
This weekend, we stopped by Captain Cam’s Youth Fishing Program on the Guadalupe River and watched kids learn how to cast, bait hooks, and spend a slow Sunday afternoon outdoors.
Two boys caught their very first fish. For one of them, it was only his second time attending the program and he had never fished before that.
Programs like this are about so much more than fishing. They’re about confidence, patience, mentorship, time outside, and creating memories that stick with kids long after the fish stop biting.
But programs like this don’t happen on their own. They depend on volunteers, donated supplies, local sponsors, and community members who are willing to pitch in and help.
