THE STRAIGHT-SHOOTING RULES YOU NEED TO KNOW
I been there: Standing at the check-in counter, palms sweating, while the airline rep calls over three managers to "figure out" if your gun case meets regulations. It's nerve-wracking, to say the least. The question is: What are the regulations? Well, it depends on the airline, but the standard ones are:
STORE IN LOCKED CASE - It must be in a hard-sided, lockable case.
DECLARE IT - Tell the check-in counter you have a firearm to declare.
UNLOAD EVERYTHING - No rounds in chambers, magazines, or anywhere else.
PACK AMMO SEPARATELY - Under 11 pounds, in original boxes or ammo-specific containers.
CHECK LOCAL LAWS - Your destination might have different regulations than home. Make sure to triple-check!
Flying with guns isn't actually that complicated... as long as you have the right case.
