Lupine season is starting in Seattle. One of our favorite places to see them is at Evan’s Creek Preserve in Redmond. It is a quiet hike through a forest and wetlands to a field a purple lupines.

San Juan Island is full of gorgeous farms. Visit one of the many road side farm stands or stop by a farm that allows visitors. Krystal Acre Alpaca Farm was a highlight of our trip. It is free to visit and just a few dollars to buy food to feed the alpacas that live here.

One of the best viewpoints in the San Juans.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Mount Constitution gives you panoramic views of the islands at an easy-to-access summit. You drive up most of the way and just walk the remaining short distance up to 360º views.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Spring is an especially good time to visit – fewer crowds, clear views, and space to explore. I shared a full family friendly itinerary on the blog - link in bio.

Rows and rows of red tulips stretching to the horizon 🌷
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Every spring the Skagit Valley turns into a patchwork of color, and the red fields might be the most striking of all. Simple, bold, and impossible to miss.

Orcas from the ferry! Have you ever seen Orcas on board one of the Washington State Ferries? We managed to see a group of 4 on our ferry ride from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Truly so lucky!

2026 low tide times in the Seattle area. Depending on where exactly you are in the puget sound area, these predicted times may be off by an hour or less.

We like to head to the beach before the low tide time and watch as it recedes - and to get parking easier on busy days.

While I included all negative tides, I often save tide pooling to days where the low tide is at least under iotost for all the Save this post to look back on to know when the next low tide is expected.

One of our favorite playgrounds in spring to enjoy the cherry blossoms without the crowds is Rhododendron Park in Kenmore. This park is close to the Burke Gilman Trail and is easily accessible by bike from Seattle or the Eastside. Once the cherry blossoms fall, the namesake rhododendrons provide gorgeous color.

Where should you go after visiting the tulips in Skagit Valley? Just a little over 20 minutes away is Deception Pass State Park. Get lunch or dinner in Mount Vernon or Anacortes and get your toes in the sand and enjoy the views.
